They came to mind and I live out in the middle of no where! In fact, you can't see my house from the road!! Did someone recommend me or something? What did or would you do if this happened/happens to you?

Witnesses have Kingdom Halls in valleys that can't be reach by vehicle, as they are too high in the Andes mountains. They go house to house in Siberia, deepest Africa, and Cuba. In the Australian outback, students have to attend school by by video uplink, because the farmsteads are 50+ miles apart, yet they get visits from JWs, do you really think there is anywhere in America they can't find? That comes with the drive to follow the teaching of Christ to preach and teach.

Consider what it was like for the first Christians Jews. They spread out over Israel, going house to house in to some very rural homesteads and sheep farms. They were telling their brethren Jews that the traditions, rituals, and holiday observances dating back hundreds of year were no longer valid.

We try to reach every house, all over the world. In some countries, they have to walk 1/2 a day to get to a village. We have it easy in the US.

Nothing shocks us. So just be honest. If your not interested, just say so, no need to hide or make up something. We're not there to convert anyone, only to share some good news from the bible. Unless you tell us to put down your address as a "do not call", chances are, you will have someone come to your door at least once a year.

The thing you can do, and what I did years ago is listen to what they have to say and ask them about things people have asked. Such as things you may have heard or whatever, just listen to the message for a moment and that usually is that. What we as witnesses try to convey, is a positive message from the bible to give others a sense of good things amid all the sad things that happen so much. Generally going out from door-to-door is not even to convert people but really to give a witness of good things that can be a help to others. But that can be accepted by some but of course not all, as everyone is different. you can also check out the official website below for further info.

With Jehovah's Witnesses, every day is Halloween. There's a window where I can see anyone in front of our door without being too conspicuous; I just check and see if it looks like JWs. Some of 'em will leave a pamphlet in the door (and other times I'm wrong and it's an ad for a lawn service or something).

Yes, I have had them come to my door. I invite them in and debate them. They get really uncomfortable with that. I debated them when I was Wiccan, I debated them when I was an atheist, I debated them some more when I was agnostic, and I debate them now as a Christian.
It isn't that I don't believe they're Christians. I DO believe that. I just think that there are some interpretations they've obtained from the Bible are wrong.

No offense intended against any Jehovah's Witnesses here. I know you guys are good people!

--NO! the world is mapped out on territory cards, that we try & cover-- to visit every householder.

--Sometimes we might spot your house from the air, some of us are independent flyers!

--Could also be that someone might have recommended your home or your address, which we obtain if it is posted in the phone book etc.

--WE HONESTLY try not to bite, work at not being arguementive, have feelings--that anyone can hurt.

--We eat, drink & try to be merry despite knowing that we are living in the last days that cause heartacke of every kind.
--BUT with the outright solution of Jehovah God's heavenly rule in the hands of Christ and the blessings to come after the "righteous ....war of Armaggedon" as promised in the Lord's prayer:

---Matthew 6:9,10".........Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven......."

(2 Timothy 3:1-5) “3 But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to it. power .”

--NOW IF ALL THIS be true, would you not want everybody to know about it?
--That is how we feel very sincerely--WOULD IT NOT be something IF WE WERE RIGHT?--(which I have no doubt) There is always that possibility that someone has to be right!

--SO YOU COULD --listen or say you would rather not, AND we by far, usually leave. Sometimes we may be persistent, so sorry about that--We are just as any human who is concerned!

--Thanks for being nice about the matter!

You have just experienced the
'witnessing' work.
It cannot be done except with God's spirit.
Its purpose is to point out to you just exactly what the Bible really teaches.
It is NOT to convert you by means of duress.
If you accept what is shown to you...You will convert yourself.
J.W's, as we are known to all, make a personal effort to reach EVERY HOUSE in our allotted area.
A simple council map will reveal this.
So we knew your house was there all the time. Its just a matter of putting in the effort and travelling there.
And it is all done out of our own pockets,
No travel allowance or any other form of payment is made.
(ISAIAH 43:10-12) ““YOU are my witnesses,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that YOU may know and have faith in me, and that YOU may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none. 11 I—I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior.” 12 “I myself have told forth and have saved and have caused [it] to be heard, when there was among YOU no strange [god]. So YOU are my witnesses,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “and I am God.”

Actually, last summer two families of Jehova's witnesses came to us two weeks in a row which is quite strange since they've never paid us a visit before. Even stranger is, when we went to my grandfather in Australia soon after that, a mother and her daughter who were Jehova's were the first people we met except my granddad. The first 17 years of my life - nil. Four weeks in July - three FAMILIES! But they all seemed nice - we just took the pamphlets and they went away.

I live in a rural area too, but have been visited only twice by elderly members of the Jehovah Witnesses. I remained cordial to them, but told them I'm a died-in-the-wool Mormon.

We usually share a biblical scripture and then they are gone. I see no need to become nasty unless they turn nasty first.

Yes, but not in a while. They were in my neighborhood over the weekend though. If you dont answer the door, they do go away.
