I've always been taught 'open' mail is okay to read, 'closed' mail is not. You can read a postcard, you should never read a letter! If the magazine was wrapped, tied, if the label held it closed, you shouldn't open it but anything that's just open is okay.

But personally I don't think I'd feel really comfortable reading it though... I might glance through, if there was anything interesting in it, I'd ask my neighbor, 'hey, this was in my box, I just happened to see there was this article about x, could I read that when you're done?'

Yes I DO think it is rude, but I did it once. The magazine was delivered to my house by mistake, the address was for one across town. I read it, then one hour later I walked to the pickup-mailbox and dropped it in. I made sure my hands were clean and I would never keep any mail that was delivered in error to my house, I would always return it ASAP. But I did read the magazine first.

If you just glance for a moment, then it's ok, but you really should put it right into their mailbox. What if YOU were in your room eagerly awaiting the next issue of Granny Trannies? (lol - no such magazine!)

yes. Would you open their mail if it came to your box?

you should return it immediately, reaping no benefit whatsoever because it is not your property
