Jesus, mother Mary of Christ these people are so freakin delusional! I can't stand it anymore! But I sit here and torment myself! Sit here and try and reason with this impossible people! Why?
Their God raped, murdered, tormented, tested, crucified and even aborted babies by having swords slashed into pregnant women. Yet these idiots still want to put him on a pedistal and ignore every cruel, inreasonable, totally illogical issue that is the entire bible.
Why? Why can't they be like us? Why can't they see the truth? It's not like their beliefs are all warm and fuzzy right? Most of them will burn in hell becaue they dont come close to following the million + 10 laws and rules in their bible. Is that comforting enough to make them take out and stamp on their own brain?

They say, It's mosaic law or whatever. GOD still killed these people! It doesn't matter when or who. Were these fetues any more sinful than ones existing now? Why be so against abortion now then?

Yep, all of those things and worse are done by their god in their bible. They will deny it although it's right there for the reading. They will say that Jesus never did such things, and they are right, Jesus never did. Their god the father, however, did. So they love and worship Jesus and ignore the sadism of the father who is (according to them) in Jesus. Strange people, I agree.
But you will not convince them. They have an excuse for everything - you didn't understand it, you took it out of context, it was the old testament, god can kill people because he created them (love that one), etc, etc.
All we can do is continue to fight against all that stuff being taught in schools and made into the laws of the land. And get people like Bush out of power.

Most organized religions of tloday have roots in Mysticyzism of some sort, including the practices of ritual sacrifice, body marking and scarring, self mutilation, self-debasement, orgies and promisquity, sodomy, inscest and even infantcide.
Those who follow Islam are by no means unique or more reprehensible, that the Quakers & Mormons of the Salem Witch trials in Mass., in the 1600's. The idoicy of their logic is unequaled even today. When one of their church member ship accused someone of practicing whitch craft or working spells, the accused was tried, found guilty (always). and then offered freedom only if they could survive a fatal trial. Such as witches could not be drowned, so to prove you are not a witch we will tie you to a weighted chair and cast you under the water in a lake or river and leave you there for an hour or a day, and then retrive you. If you are dead, you are vindicated because you have just proven to the world that you are human and not a witch because you are dead from drowning.
THe Sioux and Cheyene still practice the secret Sun Dance Ceremony where eagles talons or spikes of wood are driven through the front or back deltoids of young men in a Right -of-Passage Ceremony, and then a pair of woven vines of rope of braided leather lacings are fastened to the single pair of claws or spikes thrust thru the participants chests or backs,(just above the shoulder blades). THe "Dancers" are now ready - they are either hung until they can wriggle enough to tear through the the flesh, or then can run & lean back around a maypole to accomplish the same thing.
It's early in the morning and their small 20 month old daughter is quietly crying in her bed, too week to manage much more than a small plaintiff sob. She has been crying for three days. Her temp, has been over 103 farenheight for 24 hours, her lungs sound like they are full of fluid, she won't / can't eat. She has stopped producing urine or stool. Both parents pray over her day and night. THe nearest hospital emergency room is 3 blocks away, and does take in those without Medical Insurance, (It is the main County Hospital),
She died later that morning of phenumonia - an easily treatable infection, that was ignored because the parents believed that prayers to God would do the trick.
But these, brutal and in some cases - fatal - religious practices you could say that their GOD directed these activites and in doing so he is obviously a MONSTER.
And I guess I'd have to agree, except for one little thing that we seem to have forgotten - Free Will.
I do know that the God of the Christian Religions gave his followers "FREE WILL". I'm, not sure but I also think that the same can be said for those who follow Islam, the Catholic's & Epsicopals, the follower's of Budda, the followers of Vishneu, amd so on, So NO I do noy believe that God just let's bad things happen to good people and the innocent.
In the KJV of the Bible it says that "None may come to him save by me" Meaning that you have to be Baptised in Jesus Holy Name before you can enter the Kingdom of heaven." Now do you stand here and tell me that an innocent baby who dies during child brth gets a one way ticket to Hell?
So instead of focusing on making God the bad guy, and subject of your ire - how about a closer and more tangible group that should be mage accountable, (as far as I an going to be concerned.
This practicing religion, puts out a tract magazine called the "Watch Tower" They claimed to have a US membership of over 5 million parissioners when then came knocking at my door one Sunday moring some years ago, I thought at first they wer e just two clean cut Wearever Cookwear salesmen, and one was the route salesman, and the other the Territoy Manager - sent out to help and monitor the young man for his start up sale.
The really interesting thing that caught my eye was the mention of the true 750,000 that were going to heaven when the rapture came, and that was gong to be it. 750.000 people. I asked him what the special dispensation I need to buy now to guarantee my self a spot on the LIST OF THE FINAL 750,000,, AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO BE GOING.
So while I share your frustration about what I think is the wrong headed thinking of so many modern day "organized" religious, who I think are more interested in secular politics and lining their own vaults of their

I don't know who this "us" is that you wrote about, but let me just say that God allows people to make choices (it's called agency, look it up). Rape, murder, and abortion are all choices, and they are not commandments from God.
In the cases that I believe you speak of in the Bible, whole cities of people were killed because the God of Israel told His people to do so, I myself have wondered very often why even the little children had to die.
First, we do need to remember that they did live the Law of Moses (an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth) or the lesser law, that passed away with the coming of the Savior. Second, the Bible was translated by men and men can make mistakes. Third, we don't know the reasons that God did things and we have to believe that He knew what He was doing. It's called faith. Lastly, if you really want an intelligible, honest answer to a deep, philosopical question, do you really get on Yahoo! and make such a complete fool of yourself? No, if you really wanted an answer you would talk to someone who you trusted about their beliefs and why these things happened. Then you would get down on your knees and ask God to help you know if He is real and if these things are true.
If there is no God, you just wasted maybe a couple of days in your meaningless existence. If there is a God, you may just be able to come to a knowledge of the truth and develop some faith of your own.

Let me simplify this for you in an analogy of a gardener.
A gardener will till his soil, water the soil, and prepare his soil. When the time and the season is right, he will plant his seeds of all different species. As the seeds begin to grow, weeds will also flourish. Those weeds will be picked and tossed away. Some of the seeds will grow as plants, others will not grow and will die.
The plants will be pruned so they can grow taller and stronger. When there is no rain, the gardener will water his plants.
When the time comes and the plant becomes ripe, the fruit will be picked and the seeds will be sowed for the next season.
One could argue that the gardener is cruel. He cuts out the weeds and burns them in the fire, he plucks, prunes, and cuts his beloved plants, he picks them when they're ripe. And he brings the ripe ones home with him.
The gardener is just and knows what is right. He keeps his garden even though the plants may not understand his methods.

Reflection is a wonderful thing. You see a side of yourself that you were not aware of. View it and come to understand it, then learn from it.
In any religion one will find faults, because religion is human's preception of what "God" is. When one is no longer learning or in touch with their "Spirit" one will become emotional upset by religions that are not of their own.
If you are of the religion I think you might be, I have a question for you that is bothering me, how is it that killing innocent bystanders that are trying to find work or happen to be near government buildings can be of the "Spirit" be any less evil then someone hurting another human being in the name of their "God.?" There is no justification for any death.

The scriptures you sited (which you didn't say what book of the bible it came from) Were talking about the evil and the wicked being destroyed. Jehovah can read their hearts, including the children and the unborn children. Ps. 139: 16 "Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book all its parts were down in writing." It is his right as God and creator to rid the earth of those who are truly wicked, for the sake of his chosen people.
He will do it again in the furture. That is why having children and training children is a big responsibility for parents.
Humans having abortions is killing their own flesh and blood. Humans killing each other everyday. There is no comparsion to God. He has given us life and told us what he requires of us, if we refuse to follow his advise, he can take our life away. It is his right.
It is your right to believe that there is no God, no accountability to anyone. It is our right to believe that there is a God and he is a just God and will do all the things he has promised. Including ridding the earth of the wicked.
Ps. 37: 9 & 10 " And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more, and you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace."

This was under the Mosaic Law that existed as a means to stabilize Israel as God's Treasured possession.
The first reaction we have to such passages and other "cruel" passage from the Bible is shock and awe. Many people say that isn't right!
What is your basis for saying such? Do we realize how much we have been conditioned due to our culture and advancement to society?
When the Hebrews would read this, or even others in that culture this would not be surprising but they would all nod their heads and say, "Yes, this is how it should be." All you have to due is read other law codes from the same era or even read other Suzerain-Vassal Treaties and this will be clear.
As I said earlier the purpose of the Mosaic law was for the people to be considered God's treasured possession. Now God's treasured possession, or his family is determined by anyone who is IN CHRIST. And we are no longer under such regulations.
Its call contextual interpretation. The Bible is locked into a specific culture once it is written. May we all seek to become better exegetes.

It's hard to reason with you, and most all religious people about things like these. I'm an athiest, and jesus was a jew, not like you said in your answers response that he was a christian. The christians just worship him... but think differently? something like that... anyway, I'm not going to tell you about athiesm and how it makes sense, because over quite a while I've finally accepted that it won't do anything.

You are just palin Dumb. Many people were killed and they deseved it. Most were the prodgeny of the fallen angels that mated with the daughters of man. Some of there names were balak,og,anak. These were giants. They have no chance of eternal life. They occupied the land of God's people,so they had to be killed. They were wicked. I am sorry you are such a little tenderfoot that you can't stand seeing vengence on the ungodly. I love to,and think it is beautiful. When Christ returns He will tread arrogant fools like yourself under His feet. How great that will be.
