I want to tone my body a bit and a little bit of weight overall... not lots though, just abit of toning I think. I want to lose fat of my thighs and tone my stomach aswell as my overall body. What gym equipment is best? Also, I sweat more on the tread mill but on the machine it says that i burn more calories on the cross trainer... is that right?

i find the cross trainer is the best for working the whole body, it is more of a fat burning tool than cardiovascular hence why you sweat more on the treadmill. You should also add weights to your gym session doing minimum weight with more reps to tone

I think that the treadmill is the best for you. It works all over your body, not just your legs. Cardio is the best for your body. Not only do you loose cals, but your toning the parts of your body. You will see the most effects from that machine. Sometimes I get scared if I will look like a body builder if I go on the other machines so I stay on the tread mill.

But you dont need gym stuff to loose weight. Run down the block for 30 minutes and its the same thing.

First off - cardio is best for losing that little body fat around thights and stomach - do something you enjoy - treadmil, elliptical, biking, swimming.

For toning, work the main muscles with weights. Use machines (or free weights) and look online for ones that you enjoy and feel work for you. Everyone is different, so what works for one person may not be the best for another. Remember, to tone use lighter weights for more reps (at least 15 - the last rep should be difficult but not impossible)

personally i prefer the treadmill and i don't go to any gym i bought an automatic treadmill for my house and i just put on a dvd make sure i have a drink and cordless phone to hand then get on the treadmill - do this every day or couple of times a week and you'll soon notice a difference i did - i prefer doing this at home because there i don't care what i look like there are no fees payable once you've bought the treadmill which will pay for itself and you can do it whatever time you want at home and for how long you want!
