fiats are supposed to be ok to look at, but can be unreliable, and depreciate by about £5/ minute. They are cheap as chips for a reason, and like a previous person said, selling it on could be a nightmare cos who's gonna buy it?? Also the bodywork is flimsy and it wont protect you in the event of an accident. At the end of the day you get what you pay for! You're better off going for an more reliable car, ie VW Golf, Polo which will definitely protect you, hold its value, low maintenance and look good all at the same time! If you cant afford a new one 2nd hand ones still look great.

I've had two fiats in the past, and both were great cars. I had no problems with either of them, but that's a few years ago now.

Had a two door Fiat Uno 45 and then a five door Fiat Uno 55S.

Both cheap cars to buy and to run - only changed because I wanted, 5 doors and a sunroof first time, and a newer model second time around. Ended up with a Clio afterwards.... but only because I liked the Bravo style better than the Bravo but it only had 2 doors!!!

Helps cos they seem to be cheaper on insurance as well.

Neither of mine were rust buckets, and had no major faults or repair bills either

Would consider buying another one, when I come to change.

In my opinion fiats are one of the most unreliable cars on the road apart from any french car that is. As for the coupe i was very dissapointed in the many that i drove and repaired. They are a nice looking car but have many many reliability problems from heads/headgaskets/brakes/suspension and gearbox problems. And as they get older you will find most people not wanting to take on repairwork on them. So unless youve got plenty of cash for the high maintenance i wouldnt bother and i would just buy something japanese.

Yugo's aside, Fiat's are probably the worst manufactured cars on the planet.

would have agreed with that statement 3 years ago, but then my daughter has one she bought 2nd hand for £150 3 yrs ago, & still running, used every day of every week, nonstop.
She's only just realised after 3 yrs that you are supposed to check oil & water regularly !
Husband usually has bikes, but bought a Seicento for work.........best buy we've ever made. Had it over 6 months, dirt cheap & NO problems, about 55-60 mpg, brilliant 2nd car.

I don't think about cars at all and even if I did, I wouldn't think about Fiats.
Where I come from Fiat means:
First
In
All
Troubles

I love Fiat and their engines. The engines tend to be high-reving and so you can get alot out of them. With 2nd hand one (as with most cars), check the history to ensure it hasn't been ragged!

I used to think the same - nice cars butr cr*p electrics. Have now totally revised my opinion, have a had a Punto now for 5 years and never had a problem with it, it's the most reliable vehicle i've ever had!
