Adding weight to a leg press will strengthen your legs, but remember not to overdo it. When you lift weights, you are breaking down your muscles, and when your muscle builds back up it builds back up stronger. That's how bodybuilding works.
However, if you try and work out vigorously every day you will do nothing but break down your leg muscles and they will not be able to build back up.
The key is to work your leg muscles one day and let them rest the next day. The next day you could work you abs while you let your leg muscles build back up. You could even try only working your legs every three days at first.
You should probably wait at least one week before increasing the amount of weight you use.
I would use as much as you can comfortably handle at first, be sure to rest your muscles at least once every other day, and then increase the weight every two weeks.

It will make your legs stronger.
If you want to build muscle rather than like lose weight you want to do less reps of a higher weight how much weight i can't tell you it depends on how much you can handle
When I do a leg press I do it with between 400-500 lbs((and I'm 14))
but I have really strong legs

Yes, do a minimum of three sets of twelve. Alot of weight and fewer reps will make you bulk up more ( like weight lifters) and alot of reps with lighter weights will give you a leaner toned look. I like to lift an amount that the next day I feel a slight soreness. And then add add 10 percent per week. Also I cut this workload in half for 1 week out of a month. So its three weeks on and one off.

If you want to add muscle do 3-4 sets of what you can do 6-8 reps of b4 you fail. If you are looking for tone do 3-4 stes of what you can do 12-14 reps b4 you fail. Exact weight is defferent for everyone so you have to try and see. By fail I mean you try a 7th one and your body just won't let you do it.

Yeah, it will make you stronger
as for the 'how much weight' question no one can really answer that as we have no idea how strong you are
a good rule of thumb to follow is you should be straining a bit more on your last couple of reps in each set....when they become easy...move up some weight

More weight with less repetitions will add bulk. More repetitions with less weight will make lean muscle.
