I just purchased a can of Sprite from a vending machine here at work and it has the old design and an expiration date of October 30 '06. Would I still be ok to drink it?

I just opened it and it sounds as though all the carbonation is still there.

It is fine, drink it!
Years ago there was no such thing as a date on a can or a bottle of cola.
No one ever died, either back then or recently!

Most people are surprised to find out that:
* Stores are not legally required to remove food once the expiration date has passed. They are strictly "advisory" in nature.
* Dating is not federally required, except for infant formula and baby food. States have varying laws. Most states require that milk and other perishables be sold before the expiration date.
The major codes are:
* Sell by - Don't buy the product after this date. This is the "expiration date."
* Best if used by - Flavor or quality is best by this date but the product is still edible thereafter.
* Use by - This is the last day that the manufacturer vouches for the product's quality.
Sodas
* Unopened: In cans or glass bottles, 9 months from "best by" date
* Opened: Doesn't spoil, but taste is affected

It can go flat, which is when it losses its carbonation. In this sense it will taste bland and the flavors aren't as prevalent.
I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to dink anything that is years old though.

I would say no, it will probably be flat anyways...
They need to rotate the old products out when they fill it....if you want to really make it a big deal, call the distrubutor and have them come out and replace them....
If not, then buy something else

no, dont drink it. The chemicals become unstable after too long. You could suffer from ulsers, stomach ache, etc.

I think after a while it will taste bad-kind of bitter.I would taste it and go from there.

it will go flat.
Just like a balloon.....if great when they are fully inflated (like your softdrink), after certain time, they will loose their air (carbonation) ....what you do, get rid of the balloon (get rid of your drinks)

i dont think it goes bad i just goes flat so you should be fine
