i have this friend who is 23 and she's started going out with this 47 year old guy. Normally i dont have a big problem with age gap relationships but i'm still at college and my friend has suddenly become really really mature, all she talks about is going to antique fairs and food and cooking and generally domestic things. she used to be really fun and we'd have such a good time going out and talking about ambitions and looking forward to getting good jobs after college.
is this what normally happens. he's an ok guy but he's started trying to act young. i find it wierd like their trying to meet halfway with the age thing. what do u think?

he's not rich but he has a job so to a student he can afford more than the average guy at college.so he buys her expensive gifts all the time.
it annoys me cos he tried to get with me first then when i wasnt interested he moved onto her so its like he just wants a young girl.

When my sister married her husband she was 21 and he was 42 (or so). They are still married (only because a child is involved). And that marriage has been a train wreck for approx. 6 yrs. They are at different points in their lives, and they have different interests in nearly everything. I would not suggest a relationship like this. Think about it.... when your friend is his age, he'll be 71. eeeewwwww : ) As Adam Sandler said, old balls!

You know? so many girls get dragged into this "ohh i'm so much more mature than boy's my age" thing. I don't get it, Most of the time, the girl just has no idea what she wants. She want's to be domesticated but she wants to party, She want's respect but she want's (and lets face it, this is what most of these types of relationships are about) the kinkist sex she can have. and they figure these old types can give them a life where they don't ever have to worry about anything again. Not the case ladies.... Trust me, the guy will get tired of you, I work with 40 year old men, trust me all they talk about, "so i started hangin with this dumb little 22,23,24,25(whatever) year old, man i love young ti.ts an as.s, i cant wait to bend this ***** over"... they are dirty old men, and yes all they see is you naked and bent over, its sick really, when you could find love in a guy only a few years older than you.

I can't believe how many closed mined people we have in the year 2007!!! Wake up people! We aren't living in the 60's . It's not about what society thinks anymore. We have moved beyond that! it's about what makes people happy!!Age is a number. If two people can be happy together in this day and age with all the unhappy relationships that are around.THEN LET THEM BE HAPPY!! It isn't any of our business!
When this life is over and we have stand in front of God for our judgment. It's only us that have answer for ourselves! We have to have peace with that. Not what judgmental people think!
To be honest we all have ghost in our closets that other people wouldn't think was right. So look at your own lives and tend to them!!

Yeah, it's really between the two of them. None of our business. But I DEFINATELY understand why it upsets you. It's really hard watching someone you care about drift away from you. In my opinion, the best thing to do is just keep doing what makes you happy, and let everyone else do the same.

firstly-"Yuck GROSS I HATE WHEN PEOPLE DO THAT NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE BUT ITS WEIRD CAUSE HES KINDA OLD ENOUGH TO BE HER DAD" is obviously someone who is to young to realize that people that are over the age of 20 or 30 or 40 aren't relics. if they get along thats great. let her be happy. if you feel odd around him because of his age tell your friend you want to hang out as just the two of you when you do things.

I think it's gross...to be honest. I'm in my 20s and there is no way that I sleep with a 47 year old...no matter how much he paid me.

It's unusual but perfectly legal. I'm thinking that he must have a lot of money.
