I think that everyone suffers at one time or another and it's part what we go through in our human life; it's just that some people suffer more than others.

However, I don't think you have to suffer to get to heaven. You see, here's the difference for Christians, we realize that we have an advocate in the form and person of Jesus Christ. Not only did he pay the price for our sins, but he also is there for us during our times of suffering. When we are stressed out, going through difficulties, or facing something unbearable, we can go to our heavenly father.

I realize when I'm going through things the worst, that I did not ask for Help from God. I forgot that I do have that advocate. When I do pray or someone is praying for me, sometimes he sends emotional relief, other times, he sends a real person to help.

So yes there is suffering, but with Christ as our advocate, we do have an option to avoid hell. If you are willing to take that option.

No one has done anything that is beyond God's salvation, if a person truly wants to make a change. He's there waiting for your call. What have you got to lose by giving God a chance?

This just breaks my heart. There isn't any more suffering to get to heaven than there is in leading a life that would take a person to hell.
Who would say it's not possible to be saved? On what authority would they speak? It's available to anyone - just should they believe.
But - alas - you are right...suffering is a part of life - saved or not. For me it was easier to take/understand the suffering once I was saved. it served a purpose.

Ah, but if you believe in an afterlife, as I do, that's forever. My lifespan is likely to be less than 100 years; what's 50 years of sorrow next to an eternity of joy?
(Mind, I do NOT go out of my way to court suffering, and like most folks, I would attempt to end it as soon as I may--but honestly & honorably.)

You are very close to the truth. You cannot save yourself. When you stop trying, then you can see the salvation of God that has been freely given you, whether you believe it or not. You have been saved, you cannot fail, the one who is your heavenly Father has made sure of this.

Well, guess what, what you are suggesting is what most people are doing anyway, so I guess if you can't take the rough way that leads to heaven, you have to take the easy way that leads to hell.

thats what the devil wants you to believe. The path to Hell is wide and many will find it, but it is for misery and eternall torment.

You are right, we can't save ourselves!
But through Christ there is salvation.
