illegal immigration is a WORLD wide problem:
Mexicans to the U.S.
Guatemalans to Mexico
Haitians to the Dominican Republic
Moroccans to Spain
Albanians to Italy
Indonesians to Malaysia
Afghans in Australia
West/Central Africans to South Africa

This phenomenon is not restricted to the U.S., where "evil Mexicans" are trying to take advantage of the "generosity of kind Americans"
As long as the concept of nationhood exists, illegal immigration will never end. Ever.

I'm sure there will always be people trying to get into this nation via illegal means, but I think it will be controlled one day. Its a fairly simple process , nothing is impossible . First ,totally secure our borders by any means necessary. Place a 5 to 10 year moratorium on legal immigration (until the illegal problem is settled)
Offer illegals a time period to voluntarily leave the USA and after that time ,identify, locate and begin the systematic deportation of all illegal aliens. It didn't happen over night and it would take awhile to accomplish this.but it can be done.
Along with this plan, severely punish all employers of illegal aliens. Make it far too costly to even consider hiring this so called cheap labor.

Trying to draw a parallel between the Berlin wall and a border fence doesn't make any sense. The Berlin wall was to keep oppressed people in, it was never to keep people out,of one part of a city.. Fear and bullets kept the majority of the people within its walls. The USA has every right legally and morally to encircle our entire nation with a fence if it so desires.

Illegal immigration will end, or reach it's peak, in our country when the military / industrial complex, who own the Congress and the Presidency of the United States through their massive campaign contributions ~~~ says it will end.

Our nation can not compete with the global market until three things happen ~~~ 1) we get a 50% drop out rate in our schools so half the population will be satisfied earning between $6 and no more than $10 an hour without benefits,

2) there are 12 million illegal aliens who are willing to work for $5 an hour without further corporate benefits necessary because they receive free schooling, lunches (in CA) and medical emergency room care et. al through the state.), and

3) multiple corporations move enough of their industrial plants to third world countries in order to take advantage of cheap labor, very low plant overhead, and no federal, state, county, and city tax fees.

No, it will not end until somebody gets serious about the issue. The "Border Fence" is a joke. It can be easily knocked down or cut.....it is already happening. It will never stop...I say take the handcuffs off of OUR Border Patrol Agents and let them do the jobs that WE, Americans entrusted them with.

I say build a 20 foot wall 8 feet thick!! Then it would slow them down enough for OUR Agents to catch more of them.

The wall will also help keeping out "poor" drug smugglers like the one that got shot in the behind out of the country...God (No, I'm not sorry if God offends anyone) knows we don't need anymore of OUR Knights of Justice like Compean and Ramos in jail!!

Completely, no. But I think there would be a lot less if we stopped handing out education and benefits to those who come illegally, and rewarding them with citizenship for their children.

I think there would be a lot less if we really cracked down on employers and built the fence and enforced our laws and put in place the visa exit tracking system Homeland Security is trying to put off yet again.

Come on, we aren't even trying.

And THAT is why there is so much anger on this subject.

I don't think so. People will always find a way across the border. But it can be greatly reduced, and should be. The harm -- and potential harm -- that illegal immigration brings outweighs the benefits that the hardworking illegal aliens do. They're, largely, a net drain on the economy. And then there's the whole national security implications of having a porous border. I don't even want to get started on that one.

Illegal immigration can easily end tomorrow morning if the government would simply enforce the existing laws - fining employers, ending "catch and release", and using the military on the border (not as a "show", but STOPPING and DETAINING those crossing), and build the fence. Would it be easy? Absolutely not, but is it achievable? Without question.

No.

We would have to build a 2500 mile wall to keep people out.

Ever read up on East Berlin and their wall? It was a fraction of the size and they still couldn't keep people from defecting, even when threatened with being gunned down in the process.

The only way we're control illegal immigration is to help Mexico become something more than a 3rd world country. Then their citizens won't flee the country to try and make a better life for themselves.

I seem to recall a phrase that sums up America: Life, Liberty, and the persuit of happiness.

You guys ever heard that one before or do you have selective memory loss?

No, of course it will not end. Not until the folks that are using the illegals as labor are stopped. Not until the jobs end. Most of the huge numbers of illegals will continue to deluge us until it becomes obvious to them, they can't make a living here.

When that occurs, the immigration of illegals will stop for the most part.

It will unfortunatley get to the point that Americans will have to fight for our country obviousley,Its to bad we take so much **** to the point it has to get out of hand and end up in war, but, the rage is building everyday, more Americans are getting fed up with law breakers that we support, while our government does nothing.I feel alot will be determined by who gets elected in 2008.We need someone who is interested in the sovierinity of our country.Hunter or Tancredo, possibly Romney.A war could start so easily at this point, when the illegals march in May,could really start a bad scene in my opinion. Our forefathers, all hard working immigrants who fought for this country would have takin care of this BS when illegals burned our first flag.....Should we be ingreats and not defend this country after they fought for our freedoms? I think not!
