I tried bribing him with treats, he broke his crate and his crate dosen't have a door on it anymore. Help, what should I do. Once he gets to the front yard he goes nuts.

i agree with the first poster i would blind fold the dog if nothing else has worked.it still might take 2 ppl..one infront one behind 'driving' the dog in. or 2 leashes one to pull the dog another around its butt to pull him in the car. blind folding makes him follow u he has no chocie. maybe u could take him out the back door.. sometimes just moving the car to a differ place might work. if u could keep a stead pace he might not have time to react to the car.

or u could try getting in the car 1st and just standing ur ground on making him get in....keep tugging leash....or loop leash so he can not slip his collar..

I would start today short ride some where dog fun!

after this i would try making the car rides end in good experices like dog park or some where he can run off leash(aslong as he is trained) or gramma house.

good luck hope ya can get him the car!!

try using a treat.. labs normally love food, so try that. if it doesn't work, than put a leash on him and then start from far away, start running and then kinda nicely pull him into the car. Once he is in there give him a lot of praises, for being a good boy and getting in the car.. Since hes not use to being in a car, you might want to take him on car rides and go somewhere fun with him, or just anywhere with you.(so he doesn't think that every time he gets in the car he is going to the vets) I often take my dogs in the car when I go get lunch for everyone, or when I go get gas. They love car rides!! They just love the company of you and sticking there head out the window..

OK well u said u have tried bribing the dog ..... OK i have learned from experience that it will take time ... try bring him out side near the car but don't even give him the chance to get in... you get in shut the door and roll all the windows down eating a favorite hamburger in were he can see u then slowly throw him peaces of ur food out the window at him slowly bring the peaces closer to the car take Ur time he has to Begin to feel safe when y got him pretty close open ur door. sit there until the dog settles down b/c it might scare him if he thinks Ur going to make him get in. once he has calmed back down give him another peace of food, praise him during the trial run reassure him that hes OK and that good boy pretty boy get him to the point were he will come up and take it right out of Ur hand pet him love on him if he feels good around that time try to scoot over...back seat... and see if he will jump in with u if he does just chill pet him and hang out with Ur dog for a while show him that Ur there with him, and its OK hes safe. it is going to take more then 30 Min's, this will be an Evey day thing until he doesn't worry about just hopping in, don't get mad that will only make matters worse. - good luck

Can you pull the car into a garage and close the garage door? If so.... leave the doors open, leave treats scattered around and leave him alone with the car. Pretty soon, he will understand that it won't hurt him. Then, start taking him for 'bye bye rides' to the park - anywhere as long as he doesn't get a needle in the butt from the Vet.

Personally I have found that the best way is to get pepper to stop associating the car with the vet.

do this by sitting in the back seat, or wherever you want him to sit, and show him a treat or something. you can drive around the block or for a few minutes. This way , for the future, anytime he has to go the vet, he wont know if its the vet or if he is going to get to go for a drive.

my dogs now, love the car (Even though one can get car sick), and jump into the car all on their own when i ask if they want to go for a ride.

Well you can always try bribing him with his fave treat. Also have someone help you get him into the car a few times for practice. Once he see's that nothing bad is happening he'll be more willing to go....

BE GENTLE.. GIVE TREATS ALONG THE WAY.. LEAD THE DOG RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR SIDE.. DON;T HAVE HIM GO INFRONT OR BEHIND YOU.. U MUST BE EQUALLY BALANCED WALKING--SO HE CAN TRUST THAT YOU WILL GO IN THE CAR SAFELY TOO.. TOGETHER...

I HAVE WORKED WITH MY FRIEND;S ROT/LAB MIX.. IT TAKES TIME.. BUT EACH TIME HE ACTUALLY GOES INTO THE CAR OR TRUCK/SUV PRAISE HIM WITH TREATS AND A BABY VOICE.

BUT THIS WON;T WORK IF:
#1- YOUR ANXIOUS ABOUT IT..
-THE DOG CAN SENSE YOUR FEELINGS OF HOW IT WILL WORK, YOU NEED TO BE VERY RELAXED..
#2-YOU ONLY TRY IT ONCE AND THINK IT WILL WORK.. DON;T GIVE UP.. SERIOUSLY DO IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER THAT SAME DAY UNTIL THAT DOG GOES INTO THE CAR.. TAKE BREAKS.. GO BACK - DO NOT GET YOURSELF FRUSTRATED..DOG IS SMART...

First muzzle the dog so he doesn't bite in fear, get a decently long leash and a choke collar on him. If you know someone with a bit of strength just have them force the dog and pull him in the car. Let the dog know you mean business, and what you say goes.

What not to do is don't yell or make a big deal of it. Just take his favorite treat and put it in the back seat where he has to get into the vehicle to retreive it. Good Luck!

TRy taking him on short rides first. Entice him into car by saying to you want to go for ride to park and stuff. After he gets used to car he will be ok
