i tryed getting a contract phone but the credit check didnt pass, y could this be??

because you have bad credit?
You can ask them for a copy of your report. They will give you a free copy or give you a contect where you can get one. Check it out and see what is on it. It may also be that you have NO credit file.

Could be for an almost unendless number of reasons -
not on the electoral role
not been living at the same address for 3yrs or more
poor financial track record
some one in your house (or a previous resident) has a poor financial record
no finance history
an error on your credit reference
If you continue to have credit problems or you'd like to see what is causing the problem, you could use a company like http://www.creditexpert.com or http://www.checkmyfile.com to find out.

your credit is bad.. Get a copy of your credit report

get a credit report from annualcreditreport.co.uk and the good thing is that its free

Sometimes this can be because they have no records of previous credit!
