I've been looking at Kraftwerk K9, a breeding kennel of German Shepherds located in Washington, I was wondering if anyone has bought puppies from them? it's pretty pricey, but something atracts me to their website and I am pretty convinced with their work.

A purchased trained, titled Schutzhund German Shepherd had to be returned to Krafktwerk K9 after a veterinarian examination, performed on receipt, identified a potentially serious kidney problem.

A lesser replacement dog was provided but the price charged was $2500 more than represented on the Kraftwerk K9 web site.

On arrival, the dog did not meet the description contained in the purchase agreement. It was not confident as advertised and failed to recognize basic obedience commands represented by its BH title.

An independent evaluation was obtained from a professional dog trainer who confirmed the dog was not competent to BH standard.

A certified letter was sent to The Kraftwerk K9 owner providing facts and data summarized the situation and requesting a refund of half the purchase price. There was reluctance to return a second dog because of the heartbreak suffered returning the first one and the attachment our family had already developed with the new one.

The Kraftwerk K9 owner was contacted by telephone after a week has passed with no response to the certified letter. The owner tersely indicated he had no intention of responding to the letter.

No compensation of any kind was offered for the expenses incurred following the receipt of a sick dog. It is now clear the price charged for the replacement dog was to offset Kraftwerk K9's expenses for the return of the sick dog. We could have lived with that if the replacement dog had been to the standard represented on the web site and in the purchase agreement. It is clear the owner of Kraftwerk K9 is totally unconcerned with customer satisfaction and has a blatant disregard for his responsiblities to conduct a reputable business.

I have heard good things about them as well. What are you looking for in a pup? Go look at this site. http://www.castlebrookshepherds.net/WELCOME.html
She has some nice pups coming out of there. I have a 2 year old ***** from her kennel. She used to breed only West German Show, but is not getting into some DDR lines as well.

Best not to be satisfied with a slick website -- I don't sell my puppies to people I've never met in person, and I wouldn't recommend buying a puppy from someone unless you can walk through their kennel, meet their dogs, and look them in the eye.

ADDED: LOL greekman -- no biggie! I guessed you might know something about the kennel/company. I'm just leery of buying dogs on pictures/email alone.

We have purchased two incredible German shepherds from kraftwerk. Both have been excellent. One is now almost 10. The other 7. As for all GSD s search the German Shepard database on the background. There you will see family health background.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/MXChN

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Kraftewrk K-9 has an excellent selection of dogs. They are well known throughout the dog world and they are doing a great job in training dogs. Have you seen their video of their facility and kennels and training the dogs and puppies? And please, do not listen to the guy here, he has no idea what a quality dog is or how much one costs.

PS That comment was not meant for you Loki. It's for the other guy here.

PPS. Ops, looks like Wayne screwd up, sorry about that. I still stand on my opinion on quality dogs and how much they cost though.

I'm a guy, and personally, I don't like long nails. We know a lot of like lengthy, painted nails cause they're "so pretty", but I don't like them.

A little bit of toe nail is fine... but I agree along with you. Long nails are kinda low.

Yep had a couple. One arrived with a umbilical hernia. Contacted kennel...they paid to have it fixed. However shehad terrible set ears...way to low on the head and had no ball drive. Died mysteriously at 10 years old. The other one had severe hip dysplasia at 10 months old. Had her destroyed her and the replacement had terrible loose hips.
