When is it "empty"?

If I am taking a pill and the directions read "take on an empty stomache", when would my stomache be considered empty if I had a bagel this morning at 8:15?
I am suppose to take this pill twice a day, one 6 hours after the first so I get so confused about when my stomache would be considered empty again, apprrx. how long(hours) after eating do I hit empty?

Your stomach is usually empty 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours afterward

About 2 hours afterwards :)
