A friend told me i have really bad breath. I took it hard, naturally. I brush my teeth and swish with mouth wash twice a day, im pretty good with hygene ( or so i thought!) My friend still tells me its really bad though. Im trying not to let it get to me, but if its that horrible, im sure everybody can tell i have bad breath! Chewing gum really hurts my jaw ( i had tmj when i was little) so gum is out of the question and i can only eat so many mints! Im afraid if i brush my teeth anymore, my gums are going to yell and scream at me!

Is there anything i can do, ive heard of people having a medical problem concerning bad breath. what can the dentist do for me? I dont want to be embarrassed anymore, i feel like my only past time now is washing out my dang mouth!
Please help.

Could be a number things.

Let me see, do you scrub and brush your tongue? Your tongue usually harbors a lot of bacteria and can easily be cleansed by a thorough tongue scraper.

Also, when was the last time you were seen by a dentist who measured your periodontal pocket depths? I.E. the space where the gum attaches to the tooth, there is a pocket in there. It is ideally 1-3 mm. If it is deeper than that, you can not adequately flush those pockets out with normal brushing. What makes the smell bad is bacteria. Bacteria fester at the base of those pockets and can give off a distinct smell of Periodontal disease. In my office, I know when a bad mouth comes in because the smell is very distinct. Most severe Periodontal patients smell the same. You need to get your teeth professional deep cleaned to lower the bacterial count in these pockets.

Check your diet too.

Lastly, you can ask your dentist to give you a RX: for a antibacterial/anitmicrobial mouthrinse called Chlorhexidine. Use this for a few days and see if you notice any difference. The mouthrinse itself stains your teeth after prolonged use, it also alters taste perception but it is very effective against killing many types of bugs.

There are a number of issues that would desire to be inflicting canines undesirable breath. enable's type it out and perhaps eliminate the distinctive motives. Are you feeding gentle nutrition or dry nutrition and in case you're feeding gentle nutrition, are you offering confusing bones (the two man made or not) to help shop the tooth clean? And no, it does not harm to grant your canines great bones on which to bite, as long as they are uncooked, by no skill cooked, as that dries out the bones and motives splintering. if your canines has gum illness, that's led to via a similar motives that persons get gum illness, unsuitable hygiene. specific, you may brush your canines's tooth, they even make diverse flavored toothpaste for canines, they prefer it. Now, if the venture is inner, including undesirable digestion or it would desire to be eating feces or different issues that motives the breath to be undesirable...or licking the place this is going to not, yet will besides. each and every so often, a canines's undesirable breath will come from licking an itchy area of this is physique that's led to via some allergic reactions. i could advise that a visit on your vet could answer your question and remedy your situation. i desire that this answer has helped. Oh, I forgot to point that gum illness can shorten your canines's life, not immediately, yet because of the fact scent is often evidence of a few an infection, plus if your canines's gums and tooth are hurting, he will not consume desirable the two.

Maybe going to a good dentist and having your teeth cleaned would help. I've found too that a mouthwash which has hydrogen peroxide in it does wonders. Crest has one out and it's in a solid white container.

A few seeds of cardamon chewed for a brief while will clear your mouth of bad breath. Chew parsley leaves, which are sure to keep your breath fresh. More useful remedies at http://useinfo5.blogspot.com/

Your body just might be off slightly because of a difference in your body's environment due to a disorder or something. When you take care of your mouth, sinus, throat, digestive system, think of it as a SYSTEM. Here are a list of possible sources and cures to help treat it (but remember to treat ALL the areas):

- The teeth: plaque build up on the teeth, even if you're unaware (the bacteria which causes odor lives underneath the plaque on the surface of the tooth). Whitening the teeth with a whitening "GEL" (not strips - the gel works as a disinfectant, oxygenating the anarobic bacteria which cannot thrive in oxygenated environments) helps to rid the teeth of the bacteria which thrive within and on top of the surface and below the gumline as well as between the teeth.

- Use a waterpik daily to rid the teeth of any bacteria or debris which the bacteria feed off of.

- Scrape the back of the tongue with a tongue scraper.

- Check the tonsils for tonsil stones or as they are more commonly known as "tonsolliliths" (I think that's how you spell it). Take the bottom, rounded end of a tooth brush and poke each tonsil gently but firmly to see if any whitish formation comes out from the crypts of the tonsils (the pockets of your tonsils). You can't always see if you have tonsil stones from the surface view only so you'll have to use the former method of poking. Do this every day to make sure that your tonsils stay clean and clear of any build up. You should be able to poke them gently and not have any new build up in them. Unfortunately you're going to have to do this just about everyday becuase once in a while just isn't enough to keep them clear of any debris.

- Use a special mouth rinse. "Therabreath" from Dr. Harold Katz works well (mostly because it's the only one on the market that has the "slightest" effect). These sorts of rinses work against the sulfur in the mouth, the VSC's. And because sulfur can build up over time, you're going to want to use at least a few swishes in the mouth "one after the other" to really undo all the accumulated bacteria (regular mouth rinses don't work that's why there would be a build up - lost time with the wrong rinses so to speak). Be sure to get it WAAAAY back in the back of your throat a few times too, since the throat is another main area where the bacteria thrives to cause odors (not to worry about swallowing since the "Therabreath" product is safe to swallow). You'll have to use the rinse in place of the regular brands which contain alcohol instead of the oxygenating action provided by the "Therabreath" and other related rinses. You can buy these in bulk online (but test it out for yourself first).

- The other culprit can be a "sinusitis" or "post nasal drip" which is a condition where the sinuses drain themselves into the back of the throat creating large amounts of mucous which the bacteria in the mouth thrive in and feed off of (the mucous also helps to create that thick coating on the back of the tongue). I find that a decongestant or antihistemine *sp* seems to work to stop the drainage and the mucous build up. I use "Mucinex" in the red box for sinuses. BUT DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT WITHOUT CONSULTING YOUR PHYSICIAN - AND DO NOT MIX MEDICATIONS OR OTC's (OVER THE COUNTER DRUGS)! There should be an underlying cause of sinusitis/post-nasal drip so look into allergies, etc. Anything from mold to dairy can be a culprit and you'll want to look into other food allergies such as gluten which can also cause this. You should also buy an irrigator or "netti pot" for the sinuses. A "netti pot" is a small tea-pot looking thing that is used especially for the sinuses, to clean them out. Try cleansing the sinuses out with a mixture of salt and water mixed 50/50% - and gargle with the same solution in the mouth and the back of the throat.

- THIS ONE IS A GOOD TIP I THINK: Drinking "green tea" (just ordinary green tea) or even "rinsing with it like mouthwash" helps to stop the odor of the sulphur and the gas like quality it gives off (mainly the odor produced from VSC's/volatile sulphur compounds). When you drink green tea it inhibits the growth of bacteria in the mouth and helps restore a healthier balance (but don't do this alone without the rest of the tips for oral care, as well as sinus and digestion help).

- Gluten, dairy, sugar, etc. are all food allergies that can cause the condition and create excessive mucous and/or a sinusitis. Try doing research on the web for things like Celiac Disease (which is a reaction and allergy/intolerance to gluten/wheat products). Do your research to see what may be causing the allergies. See your doctor for more information on this.

- And last but not least, an important possibility... Another main reason for symptoms of mouth odors could be a backed up intestinal problem. i.e. constipation. In some cases the cause of breath odors could be from the gases released from the stomach and up through the mouth. For whatever reason look into regularity and changing your diet (try eliminating wheat and other grains if you have a gluten/wheat allergy which can cause constipation). You should be normally/regularly using the bathroom on a daily basis at least one to three times a day. I got this from another site:
Many people are surprised to learn bad breath is one of the constipation symptoms most commonly overlooked. However, it is not difficult to understand really. The mouth and stomach are connected. Constipation and other disturbances in the intestines can cause poor digestion. A digestive tract that is sluggish due to constipation can cause the mouth to have a putrid odor. This is due to gases rising up from the stomach and lingering in the mouth.

Here's another link that might be helpful:
http://www.health911.com/remedies/rem_badbr.htm

And do a web search for a Dr. Harold Katz (creator of "Therabreath" and other products for this)

Hope this helps :)

(Another GREAT TIP would be to try "Colonix"! It's used to detoxify the body and cleanse the colon on a regimen of natural herbs, etc. It's ONE OF THE MOST LEGIT PRODUCTS OUT THERE as oppose to all the bogus claims used. It will also help to rid the body of parasites (disgusting to find out that WE ALL HAVE THEM!) as well as ridding the body of "CANDIDA" (yeast) which can also contribute to the problem of toxic build up and issues with breath.

Here are the links for "Colonix" (Dr. Natura products):

Good luck with everything :)
