I'm afraid you need to find some money for a vet pretty fast, or find a charity ASAP who will help.

Male cats urinating blood is almost always a sign of a blocked bladder (or rather, a bladder that is about to block). This is caused by crystals forming in the bladder/urethra, which is usually caused by diet and exacerbated by overweight.

The most important thing with this condition is to treat EARLY. It progresses quickly - your cat will soon become unable to urinate, and, if left, will become toxaemic and die.

I'm not trying to frighten you any more, honest - just to say you need to get money together any way you can and get this treated FAST. If you catch it before the bladder blocks, it will be cheaper, so get him to the vet TONIGHT before he needs to be anaesthetised for a catheter to be inserted. At the moment, the condition may be treatable with drugs and a special diet.

Please let us know how this goes and good luck. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Sarah, I hate to tell you this, but your cat may have a serious kidney infection. If you don't get him to a vet, then the cat may dieWhy do you have a pet when you cannot afford to take the cat to vet. An animal needs periodic shots and care. If you don't have the money, then maybe you should consider giving the cat to someone who has the money to care for it correctly.

It sounds like your cat has a urinary tract infection and the only cure is antibiotics. So he really needs to go to the vet. Can you borrow money from someone? How about talking to your vet and see if you can set up payment arrangements? Some way you need to come up with the money to save your cat because these infections are very painful. You may even try talking to your local animal shelter maybe there is a way they can help.

Find the money for the vet. Use a credit card, go to the local humane society, something.

He can have a UTI or in the worse case scenario, he can get crystals that block his urethra and not allow him to urinate at all. Then it becomes and emergency because he will ultimately poison himself and die.

Get to the vet asap for a urinalysis at the very least. That should only run you about $25 plus the cost of an office visit.

Yikes! That's never a good sign. Could be a UTI, could be he fell and hurt himself, or could be kidney failure. Either way, you need to find a vet who will treat your cat. Try the local animal shelters. They usually have a discounted price or might even do it based on what you can afford to pay (or even on volunteer time). They might also be able to hook you up with a vet who will see your cat at a reduced cost.

Good luck!

As Chalice said, this is a very serious condition in male cats, potentially fatal if not treated quickly. Call around to vets in your area to see if any one would be willing to work out a payment plan with you, or try www.carecredit.com or www.fveap.org This is not something that can wait, if he becomes completely blocked, it will kill him within hours.

Do you have money for soda pop? Cigarettes? To go to the movies?Out to eat? If you still have money for those things --- you have money for the cat. If not then you don't need an animal since you cant afford to take care of it. Find the money, your pet needs a vet...

Get him to a vet asap. You have no idea of how much of a risk you are taking not even to say how much pain he is in right now.

You dont belong owning any pet if you can not properly take care of him/her.
