If you eat too much hot food (which contains the same oil-based capiscum) the best thing to eat is ice cream or drink milk. The proteins in the dairy have a way of binding to the capiscum and deactivating it.

Just a guess, but perhaps washing down with milk before the shower? And it might be fun and definitely a little kinky, although not necessarily useful, to rub him all over with ice cream. :)

Seriously, I don't know but it may be worth looking into using milk.

Don't know about the milk thing.
#1 get out of the affected area
#2 Rinse the affected areas with copious amounts of water. Try to avoid letting the runoff from the hair wash into the eyes. Try to flush the eyes as much as possible, even holding them open with your fingers works.
#3 There will be an involuntary closing of the eyes, and a perception that you can't breathe. However this is psychological and not physical. The reason that it burns the skin is that the particles of the oleoresin capsicum are smaller than the pores of the skin, which allows the agent to actually get inside the pores. Even after washing the skin it will continue to burn for a while.
#4 The effects of the OC will eventually wear off.
Good luck!

I've been hit with OC MANY times.

Most important, flush with water first to get the excess OC off your skin. At this point, you are done with home remedies. Even though all the OC is washed off, the effects remain. So people ALWAYS spend too much time at the hose, washing off OC that is not there. ... and delaying the effects. While at the hose, count to 10, and drop it/move on.

Second, fight the urge to keep your eyes closed. Open the eyes and look into the wind. your tear ducts will do a better job at cleaning out the eyes than milk. Keeping the eyes closed or trying to flush them with water/milk/vodka/whatever will not be as effective as the human body's own design to clean out the eyes. Every second you spend at the hose is a second with your eyes closed and more time delaying the OC's effects.

If you are the first person to finish with the hose, and the first person to force your eyes open, I guarantee, you will be the first person to overcome the effects. Then you can start taking pictures of the other guys bathing themselves in milk/vodka/anti-freeze/whatever.

Most importantly, don't wash the clothes worn that day with other clothes. and be careful in the shower. If there is leftover OC on the face, and you are naked in the shower, and the excess OC will run downward, your groin (like the mouth and eyes - hyper sensitive) will sting.

Honestly, its not THAT big of a deal. If he's in the academy, tell him to take his hit, like the thousands of people that we're in the academy before him, and just rinse with water, lol. There is a chemical called "cool it", that is supposed to stop the effects of the OC, but its pretty much just the same as water. He will shower, and feel it a little bit again, but honestly, after the first 40 minutes, its not that bad, and as long as he is around a hose for those first 40 minutes, he will be fine.

There is nothing that will lesson the effects, he can do the baby wash and the such, but when they spray him they will spray him direct in the face and when he rubs his face it will get in his eyes, ( that is the worst)

Also it will just be bad but not that bad, I have went though it a few times. He and all his fellow officers will have a laugh about each other alittle time after.

So when he gets sprayed, don't touch, don't rub it will burn, esp eyes. Get under water ASAP and flush, and flush and flush. If he does not curse, most likely he will learn alittle that day.

But just wash it off after is about it. He will have some great stories afterwards. And there is almost always that one or two who has little effect one, ( I hate those guys) they just walk over to the water and wash, act like nothing happened.

Milk works.
Wash his eyes and face with milk afterwards.
Be prepared b/c it will dry in his hair and when he takes a shower, it will call come back!

It also depends on the concentration of OC (commonly called Scoville Heat Units - most OC is around 1 million, but there are brands that have 5 million and those hurt!).

Try milk. It works pretty good. Do not let him get straight into the shower. I made that mistake and the spray in my hair went all over my body and it was very unpleasant.

This depends on what the state and federal laws say about this matter.

Lots of water.

I read somewhere that milk also helps.
