I have this stye on my eyelid thats been troubling me for several days. I haven't been able to put my contacts in, so I wore my glasses (which are only about half as strong as my contacts). But today it was swollen like half shut, so I just stayed home. My mom thinks that I'm just looking for an excuse to stay home, but I'm not. How can I make it go away faster?

Some common eye-stye treatments and tips:

-Soften the stye by applying a hot, moist compress several times a day for at lease 10 minutes at a time.

-The tannic acid in tea is reported to help cure styes - take a used tea bag that is still warm and apply it to the eye as a warm compress.

-An old folk remedy recommends rinsing the eye with milk.

-Refrain from wearing eye makeup while the stye is active.

-Do not rub your eyes or you risk irritating and spreading the infection.

-There are many over-the-counter stye remedies you can try - see your local pharmacist.

one more thing, whatever you do; DONT SQUEEZE IT, because it can spread!!!

I've been in situations where the stye came from one of the lashes being a wild hair. If this is the case try to very carefully to pull it out( it may hurt a little). And if this is the prob; you will definately feel relief and it should start to clear up in about 24 hours. And don't feel out of the ordinary; ev1 gets them one time or another in their lifetime.

Wash your eye with baby shampoo twice a day. It is mild enough to not burn your eye, it relieves the pain and shortens the duration of the stye.

You MUST go to your eye doctor and get a prescription for eye drops. It will not go away on it's own, it will get worse or spread to your other eye. I have had them before, trust me.
