21 yrs ago my husbands parents deeded us a 2 acre lot for our home. the lot is now developed and landscaped. we just bought a new house 5 mths ago. they are asking for the lot back. We intended on leaving this land to our our daughter. would you give the land back ?

they've got some nerve. no, i would not return the land. i would leave the land to my child as you intend. they made a mistake and should have held on to it, leaving it to you in their will.

explain to them, if you haven't already, that you want your daughter to have it one day and by holding on to it, you'll insure she gets it. their mistake, not yours. don't let them feel guilty. if you give it back you and your daughter will probably never see it again.

Oooh, this could be trouble, no? Legally, if you hold the deed, the land is yours. Family relationship-wise, I don't know what you do about that. If it were me, I would say tough, it's for your granddaughter folks, you don't want to tell your granddaughter you're taking her property away, do you?
Either way, sounds like someone is going to be very unhappy. My condolences.

huh? are they suffering for sale of the land for whatever reason. if so...yes ...give it back. keep the peace. let whoever can use it, use it now. peace

Hell no, if it was deeded to me, it's my decision of what to do with it not theirs.
