My cat has just had a litter of 3 and has been doing just fine until today. She was laying in her box with her babies and started screeching like she was in pain. She kept flipping on her back with her neck up for a couple periods of 5 seconds. Is this like gas or abdomonel cramps of some sort. She's calm now but it just scared me. My poor baby :(

She may have a uterine infection or a kitten that didn't get born. Your cat needs to go to the vet ASAP. Call them, describe what happened, and have them give you advice. A cat screaming and writhing in pain, especially after having kittens, is NOT something that should be ignored. Turn off the computer and go call the vet NOW.

And as soon as she can be fixed, do so. Same with the kittens.

How can anyone who hasn't seen the cat/witnessed the episode possibly diagnose this?

If she has literally just had the litter, is it possible there is still an unborn kitty inside? Did you have her checked when pregnant so you would know how many to expect? Cats are remarkable at hiding pain, especially when they have kittens to protect,so I would suggest that anything that really makes her screech in pain cannot be good. I've never known a cat to react in even the slightest way to simple 'gas'.

If it happens again, do not hesitate to take her to the vets at once.

because of your not getting your cat fixed before she got pregnant, now 6 kittens in shelters have been euthenized. poor things. too bad people don't spay/neuter their pets.

call the vet about your problem.

Given the fact that your queen just gave birth, I would immediate phone your vet (ASAP) to ask him/her. This sounds like it could be very serious, even life threatening.

It sounds like there might be a kitty left in her - please call and take her to your vet. Then please get her fixed and then all the babies fixed.
