there was actually a yahoo news story on this a few days back. more and more winemakers are going to begin offer different wines ina box version. box wine stays fresh days longer than a traditional cork bottle wine. the brand blackbox win is really good. it's one of the more expensive ones, but it's good. cab and chard are my 2 faves. also the real sangria in a box is actually better than when it comes out of the bottle. but sangria really isn't wine. but it's good.

I've had some decent boxed wine before -- I've also had some real bad boxed wine (but that was a long time ago). It does keep fresh, because the foil bag keeps a vacuum (it keeps the oxygen out).

Some good US vintners are talking about boxing up more of their really good wines. Some good french wines are already being boxed, so it is a trend of the future that good wine will come in a box, instead of a bottle.

Personally, I like it. Admittedly, I'm not a wine connoisseur though. Although I have had some wonderful wines, I've also had some bad ones. I was given some boxed wine at a party that I enjoyed so I've kept a box in my fridge ever since. It's so easy to just turn the "tap" and get a glass of wine, no fussing around with corks or trying to stop up the bottle once it is open. Like most food and drink, if you like it, then it's good. The guests you serve it to may not like it and then you have to decide if you want to serve something else or let them deal with it ;-)

Like in all wines, there are good ones and bad ones. If it's a good wine going in the box, it'll be a good wine coming out. Bad, cheap wine going in a box is bad, cheap wine coming out also. Try and find a wine that is bottled and boxed. If you like it from the bottle, it'll be good from the box also.

As stated earlier, it does stay fresh longer after opening because oxygen is kept out of the bag.

particular, there are good boxed wines. The Australian style Hardy's places its wines in boxes. The Shiraz is powerful and lasts for weeks (in assessment to an opened bottle). it rather is each and each bit as solid as low-value bottled Australian Shiraz (Yellow Tail, Lindeman's, Alice White, and so on.). the three Thieves style from California has a superb Cabernet Sauvignon in a small container it extremely is by no potential low high quality. i'm no longer too particular approximately blush in a container. i think of maximum of them are the worry-free Franzia form of concern that grants everybody a bad impact of boxed wine. White Zin is White Zin besides in spite of the undeniable fact that (often distinctly worry-free in flavor), so I advise which you're taking a risk and purchase a container.

actually some of the better wines are coming thru in the box.And in actuality they will keep longer as you pour wine from the box the bag inside compresses with it keeping it fresher. to much oxygen can be wines enemy. When i open bottles of wine if I do not finish the bottle I pour it into a smaller bottle.

Depends on the label. More high quality vintners are going into box wines. It's a hot new trend. I just saw on the news the other night that it's good for up to six weeks!

Just don't buy Franzia, or white zin.

the juicebox wine trend will only grow....corks are a thing of the past...there is a wine called french rabbit that is a decent inexpensive wine and is sold in 1 litre boxes....personally it has become my house wine....as to freshness it has a perfectly good resealable cap and keeps better than most corks unless you have a re-corking device.......

Nothing wrong with it; unless you want to make a good impression; then bottled wine is the way to go. Box wine will be fine for a longer period; as long as you keep it refrigirated....

The only brand with acceptable wines (to me) is Blackstone. All the rest are pretty bad. Stay away from White Zinfandel in all forms
