Why all this change to Mumbai and Kolkata when India is not called Bharat?

I know Bharat is in the constitution. So why is India going through this trouble of calling Bombay Mumbai, when it is isnt doing the obvious?....It's all politics.

yes you are right. the name of the country is to be changed as BHARAT.

its all about dirty politics, politicians want to change names and prove their point, make their name in history. Bombay was sucha lovely name, seems like its indias proper business hub , while mumbai feels like a bit on the lower side. Pity we cant do much. But dats state level, Changing name of india will be much of a hassle for the top level authorities. As too many heads are involved, all think different, so it will be as it is. nd is nice for us, India is better. India is the best.

the constitution of India starts thus: "Bharat, that is India, is..."
hence, both the names are legally equal and may be used synonymously

indians call india bharat. its ther in evry indian language.the foreigners call it india.it means hind.as india is developing it needs to change its style and evrything.tats y they changd the old names and put cool names now

y not!!! This will also happen in the near future when this strikes a crazy politician. Anyways no use changing the name of the country. True patriotism lies in thinking what good can u do to the country...
