I often hear soldiers complain that no good deeds in
Iraq get reported; only the bad. So here's your chance. give us some specific examples of the good we are doing over there.
Now, one thing. We know the current surge is quelling some, not all, of the violence in Baghdad. Same thing happened last time we did that, doesn't mean the insurgents aren't just waiting for us to withdraw or move to different areas of the country. In fact, that seems to be the case.
So outside that pending situation, tell me. If there is so much good being done you should be able to find a plethora of specific examples. But make it signifigant, there's a lot of bad to counter. Doesn't help to build a school if the kids are too afraid to attend.

You're going to decide that the good news is insignificant no matter what anyone writes. You just want people to subscribe to your point of view.
I know this because of your false statement about kids in Iraq being too afraid to attend school. Really? You've been there? What school is this? My husband's sector was in Baghdad and now his brother is in the same sector... children WERE NOT and ARE NOT afraid to attend school.
As for another poster claiming that electricity and water ran 24/7 before the invasion... that is also wrong. It did not. Furthermore, it only connected to Sunni areas. Now, it is throughout the ENTIRE country. Electricity has outages because ALL Iraqis have access and they are using more electricity than they EVER have before. You'd be hard pressed to find a home without a satellite dish nowadays.
I won't bother answering your question. My efforts would be lost on you.
Besides that, those currently serving in Iraq are too busy WORKING to bother answering your loaded question.

It's obvious that you haven't been there! There has been a huge change there since 03. I talk to my son about as he was there for two years and saw the change happen. Kids do go to school, girls too, and they go to New schools, they also have new libraries, new hospitals, new private enterprises, new infrastructure, even open air markets have come back, and a night life in Mosul until midnight, a new Army that's being trained and the same with the police force, a new government that was elected by ITS people. Did you know that some of the Army troops even started a child day care in their off time to help out the Iraqi families. They have also helped rebuild some homes, some that were damaged during the main fighting and some that were to poor under the Saddam rule to do it. I know people like yourself hate to hear things like good news, being a kool-aide drinker and all, and I know your main source of news is CNN and the DNC, so if you haven't been there to help, I suggest that you grab a weapon and stand a post or at the very least a simple thank you to our soldiers would suffice! But you won't do either!

Everything you hear on the news is what the army generals want you to hear. So call me paranoid, those women walking around crying saying they killed their husbands as a bunch of bull and only if you knew how the news works then you wouldn't be asking, or talking...

before the invasion, you did not have to fear for your life when going to the market and the lights and water were on 24/7. Maybe it's the little things that they miss.

if you dont think iraq is any better now, maybe we should build a time machine and send you back to how iraq was before we went there. Then we'll see how you like it. It's negative people like you who hurt the US, unpatriotic bums who are useless.
