when you ask, for it to be cleared, do you mean a specific item on your credit or your credit in general?

An item will take at least 7 yrs & upto 10yr. Bankruptcy will take 10.

To help things along, you must take action to help it not be worse by paying on time, & taking care of (if any) charge offs or collections. Taking care of that starting now, will make it much easier when everything else falls into place.

I depends. Bad credit will drop off after 7 years, however the impact on your bad credit will be less as time moves on. If a debt is one your report for 3 years or so feel free to dispute the debt and have it removed from you report, it may not work but well worth the effort. I am a certified credit counselor if you have any question and you would like to ask fell free to e-mail me at hanketroy@yahoo.com

Bad credit is one of the worst problems to have... however there exists a solution.

I will hereby talk from my personal experience.

I did debt consolidation a couple of years ago, however If I had to do it again I would pay to some minor details,
if someone wants to get out of debt today it is pretty easy with a debt consolidation plan, however it may get a bit tricky at times, I suggest you get as much information as possible online on this first,

a good place to start in my humble opinion is astraight to the point ebook with question and answer I found :

A collection or bankruptcy takes 7 years to fall off your report. But, you can still improve your score before that with good credit management.

If you have filed bankruptcy, it supposedly takes 7 years, but not always true. Just beware of any of those credit card companies that try to get you to pay over $250 dollars just to get a card. Just rip them up and throw them in the trash.
Pay your utility bills on time.
Pay your phone ball on time.
Pay your house payments or rent on time.
Pay your car payment on time.

This will help. Don't worry, you will be up before you know it.

It depends on what you have on your credit report. If you have judgements, bankruptcies, liens, or foreclosures it can take from 7-10 years. If you have a few missed or late payments, it will be about 2 years provided that you are serious about rebuilding your credit.

that is entirely up to you, you can dispute bad charges by visiting the web sites of the 3 bureaus, I do this once a year....they generally get cleared, I state never later and wha..laaa, they change it. from there any new accts you open keep them current and up your number will go... good luck, persistence will pay off!
