I find some parallels between this movie and "spiritual truths." Kevin Costner has difficulty convincing others that he had a mission to perform and that it would be for the benefit of others.
Sometimes, teaching and preaching the Gospel is shared to those who don't immediately accept the message being spread. However, if they listen and have the desire to know what the message, they will come to learn of its importance.
This occurred in the movie. Initial skepticism, but eventual discovery of the truth.

No film has ever impressed me with "spiritual truths".
They all come out as entertainment trying to be deep (wich it is). But entertainment is just that- entertainment. By it's very nature it's not that deep.
Fiction reading is the only entertainment that comes close, because you get more into the heads of the characters.
