The best thing to do is see your doctor and share your concerns with him/her. Everyone is different and there are those that say medicine is a necessity and those that say medicine is just a patch. I personally, take meds for anxiety and I wouldn't have it any other way. I say if there is something out there that is proven to make you feel better, why in the world wouldn't you take it??

Only a doctor can answer that for you but talking from personal experience, if you need them at a particular time in your life than go ahead and take them; if for whatever reason they are not helpful to you or you suffer from side effects then you simply stop taking them.... Some of them are not addictive and they will help you... I took mine for a month due to depression and anxiety and that was the best decision i made (some people have to take them for long periods of time but my depression and anxiety came from personal issues) Only you and your doctor can discuss your problems and the available treatments there may be for you, you can try therapy, counseling or/and antidepressants. See your doctor.

Taking antidepressants will help you if you have a problem with depression. However, some people take advantage of "controlled substances" and increase the side effects by taking them as wanted instead of the recommended dose. I do believe that you will have to take them for the rest of your life once you begin because your body will depend on them just as it does with any drug.

When it comes to serious or deadly medications, ALL directions should be strictly followed.

When in doubt, obtain a 2nd physician's opinion on your diagnosis and what treatment would be best.

Most of the bad press on such medications is because the idiots taking them abused it and mixed with other drugs. Never self-medicate and adhere to your Doctor's recommendations.

dont
Because you will depend on them
they are like achol it doesnt solve the problem just hides it untill you need another drink to hide it agian
solve and face what you are goin throught instead of taking those pills
they are only temporary
and so you might get addicted
the brain produces some chemicals which make you feel comfortable happy and easy
these chemicals are not produced when you are stressed sad and depressed
when you take those pills
they do work by making you feel better
how ever you brain gets used to getting those chemicals from an external sorce so it stops producing them and so depends on the external sorce i.e. the pills
even when you stop taking them the brain won't produce them right away
so you will live another period of depression untill those chemicals are produced again
so you see
not very useful
these pills work like any drug... heroin for example
or like alcholic drinks
just to fool your brain
somtimes are used by doctors to fool patients

I don't know I have heard bad things about them. I am also scared to take meds too. I have been depressed for a while and I started going to church, got saved and baptised and now have a closer relationship with god. I feel 100% better than I did. Maybe you should try getting closer to god and pray about it, you may feel better.

talk to your dr about it, if you are prescribed antidepressants you should take them. all meds have some kind of side effects. the only way to know if they will make it worse is to try them.

at one point in time due to depression and stress ,the Dr put me on xanax and paxil...the paxil actually gave me the opposite effect and made me suicidal..if you try any antidepressants and you experience any thing like i did..stop taking the medication right away.

I woud try it out, but I would not go on a long term regimen of this stuff. I also believe that all drugs, including perscription drugs can kill you eventually if you keep popping the stuff.

I would try them and see how they work for you. If they don't work, then stop taking them. If you choose not to take them, then you may have to come to terms with the fact that life sucks.
