When I load my computer, I get this box with a message that says Windows Explorer has stopped working. It tries to find a solution, then it tries to restart. The desktop clears like if it's trying to restart the computer. I can still use my internet, it's just inconvenient with box popping up. I ran a system scan and I don't have any viruses. I tried system restore and that didn't help. What's wrong and what do I do?

I assume Windows Explorer not Microsoft Internet Explorer

Run "check disk" check both options and restart. (runs a long time)
Then run disk cleanup and defragment your hard drive

Start> Run> enter "sfc.exe /scannow" in the run box.
Run. You will need the windows XP disk. This utility will check all system files against the disk and repair if needed.

If this doesn't fix your problem, do a repair install.

Repair install. (should not lose data) Backup files first.

To uninstall Internet Explorer

If you encounter problems that you cannot resolve, it is often beneficial to uninstall Internet Explorer and then reinstall it. This procedure replaces files that might have been damaged.

In Windows, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon.
Notes

If you are using Windows XP, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
If you upgraded to Internet Explorer 6, when you uninstall Internet Explorer 6, you will go back to the version of Internet Explorer that was on your computer before you upgraded.
