Onida 1.5 Ton [Heard the Indoor Unit(IDU) is very noisy, Is it true?]
LG 1.5 Ton
Samsung 1.5 Ton

Apart from these, I have an assembler who claims Amtrex Outdoor Unit(ODU) with an imported indoor unit works well.

What Im looking for
1. Very less noise from both IDU and ODU
2. Reliability in the IDU and
3. Good cooling capacity compressor
4. Ofcourse longer life.

Please only those who have bought and used please answer. Most specs on the paper actually dont translate into reality.

However if you can point me to a good review on these models, would appreciate it.

The method that you should follow....

Take the room floor area (10ft x 10ft = 100 sq ft)
Divide by 600
That gives the basic AC capacity
Add 0.5 tonn for every 5 people
For every 2500W equipment (sum all) in the room add another 0.5T

Eg: For a 10ft x 10ft room...

Sq ft = 100
Basic Capacity = 0.167 T
Assuming 2 people = 0.667 T

=> for a 10 x 10 room a 0.8T AC would be fine

If you do not want the above complex calculation... follow the thumb rule...

Take Square root of the floor area in feet and divide by 10... you will get the AC tonnage required

Always go for a Rotary compressor... your electricity bill will be 15-20% lower and also the noise will be low...not to mention the cooling efficiency

The best options in the sequence...

Hitachi
Onida
Samsung/ LG
Videocon
Godrej

If you are going for assembler... insist on a Kirloskar compressor... else he will put a cheap chinese make or a second hand... best option is stay away from assembling

Out of those I choose u the ODU Unit because that is the best ad far as india is concerned now of late and will be much safer coz only one wire is going to come and naturally the noise would be compritively less

AS ur rewuirements 1.5 tons would do well
and i recommend u the Samsung IDU or ODU
i personally feel u can consider the
Amtrex ( I ve not heard of this model)
but if that is cheap u can go in for that which should do pretty well coz assembeled
but again when it comes to reliability and longlife u can't beat it with samsung when compared with onida and lg and the assembled
So my conclusion
is
Samsung - ODU - 1.5 Tons
and ultimately what i use is that
i ve been using since last summer and find it absolutely fine without any problems

As far as cooling goes it's HITACHI, DAIKIN or O GENERAL these three are the best and consume less electricity and kindly note it is very important to know how much ton A/C your area requires.

i've used both lg and samsung - though they look cute, they dont perform well
i've found the best performance in carrier and the hitachi atom - though a bit more expensive, they're definitely worth it
