It just means he doesn't love you, but since that sounds hurtful, he added the "has love" part. He doesn't love you. Move on.

Oh, no. Oh, God, how many times are we gonna hear that one? "I love you, but I'm not in love with you". That means that he probably loves you like a friend but not as the woman that he wants to spend his life with. Oh, yeah. There's a big difference between that kind of love and the love a man feels for the woman he wants to wake up with for the rest of his days.

I think he phrased it wrong. He meant to say he is not "in love with you but he has love for you" There is a difference for example me and my little boys father are not together and have not been for 7 years. He and I are both about to marry other people. I love him as a person and as the father of my son but I am in love with my fiance'. Think about it, you have a different love for your immediate family than you do your mate. You love your family but would you say your in love with just say your brother. He basically is saying he loves you like a sister. It may hurt but that's just how it is.

Guys use this as a defense mechanism. He does care about you but from the looks of things he wants to stray. He doesnt want to hurt you. Im with the others I think you should cut your loses and move own. He has essentially given you a way out.

yes there is a big difference that means that he loves you more like a "Buddy" like another guy, or when a girl and a guy hang out without maybe physical attraction. Basically he likes you like a friend.

Yeah, obviously you should move on because any relationship without true love is more like a co-existing than anything...in other words, really far from a relationship

It sounds like he is trying to let you know that he isn't in love with you but that he care deeply about you as a person. My feeling is that when people say things like this they are precursors to a break up. Sorry.
