my sister spent 90 minutes on her mobile to them last night they had her on hold passing her from one dept to another cutting her off then she had to call back and queue again going to the call centre in india who seemed to be the most concerned because im in plaster to my waist after a car hit me thats why my overdue bill caused the cutoff but she used all her £35 credit after being in a queue so long what can i do?do you think they might read this?

Hi Shoegirl.

Firstly it depends how far down the restriction of service your sister has gone....

1. Is she on normal telephone service or Pay & Call?
2. Can she not make any outgoing calls but can receive incoming calls?
3. Can she not make outgoing calls and not receive incoming calls?
4. Has she received a termination notice?

Normally on normal telephone service:
For 2 & 3 = opnce full payment RECEIVED service will be restored within 48 hours.
However if she has received termination notice and payment received after the date on it - your sister will need to reapply for service..

Email me if you need more info...

They may want you to change your payment method, such as to Direct Debit which means cheaper bills anyway. Otherwise, they may want you to pay a deposit, to be held in case you default on payments again. You will now be viewed as somewhat of a risk by them.

It's a huge company and they are quite slow to do alot of stuff that could be done in minutes. A bit better since competition starting eating into their profits.

If you find BT expensive, consider using an alternative call provider to route your calls from your BT line. Eg. 18185 or http://18185.co.uk which charges calls to standard fixed lines at 0p per minute from BT lines. You just pay a 4p connection charge, and dial 18185 in front of each number you're calling to, meaning that you can save a ton of money. The downside is that you still pay line rental to BT, and have to have your line connected. Why spend more than you need to? I route all my calls via them.

Otherwise, check out www.moneysavingexpert.com - this has a call price checker for various call types. (It's not linked to any of the phone co's and doesn't get commision, just tells you which phone co. is cheapest for call pricing) It's a brilliant website with hundreds of tips to save money on services and goods.

Good luck! Rob

They disconnected in the first place because of an outstanding account. OK you sister has now paid it for you I hope you thanked her.B.T.will not fall over themselves to re-install you. They may even ask for an advance payment against the next bill before installing. What they are doing at the moment is evaluating your account and assessing how you will deal with there bills in future. In the meantime you will have to rely on your mobile.

These things take time, ring them again and ask when you can expect to have it reconnected.

because they smell!

they did the same thing to me, only i didnt have an overdue bill. but God forbid you try and switch, because they'll go behind your back to your new company and tell them (wrongly)that you're back with them! and then they'll cut off your line again!

i hate them so much...
