A piece of fruit is filling and has fiber. Fruit juice has all the sugar and calories as a piece of fruit, but does not fill you up.

It is the juice alone which provides the nourishment! It is the 'life-blood' of the fruit.

If you juice an apple for instance, you can use more than one fruit and not feel stuffed as you would if you 'ate' two or more. But, you can have more than one in one glass of juice and get maximum benefit for your health.

Yes, the pulp is taken away but the idea is to get the 'ready' nutrients for healthy benefits, without having to spend time chewing. The pulp does not have to be thrown away; it can be used in punches again, so that you get double value from the same fruit. This way, too, you do not lose the benefit of the 'roughage' or fiber.

A piece of fruit is full of all kinds of fiberous materials containing nutrients that are not contained in the liquid part of the fruit.

Unless you absolutely pulverize the entire fruit and drink the resulting contents (which you can do with a blender, etc), you're missing out on a lot of the stuff. Your "juice" will be pretty thick that way, though.

I'll use apples as an example. With apple juice, you're getting basically apple flavored sugar water. Yes yes, I know it's naturally flavored and the sugar is fruit sugar, but still--that's what it is. When you eat an apple, there's a lot of nutrition in the skin (which is peeled off when making juice) and also it contains fiber (which the juice does not).

Because when you eat the fruit you are also getting the fiber that is in it. Also, a glass of juice contains a lot more calories and sugar than a single piece of fruit does.

I think there are some nutirents in the fruit that the body is capable of breaking down that can't be manufactored into the juice.
Also, even though the label says one thing, there are always chemical preservatives added to make the shipping, storing, and distribution of the "100%" natural juice possible. Consider how long it takes for a batch fruit to be picked, shipped, and sold.

Eating the fruit is healthier because, drinking juice normally contains added sugar, or some kind a preservative.

Because not only are you getting the juice that is naturally in the fruit, but you are getting the fibre from the fruit, and usually the skin of certain fruits, ie-apples, have extra vitamins. Alot of times juice can have added sugar.

most juice sold commercially is made from previously concentrated juice, and that extra processing costs nutrients.

eating a piece of fresh fruit not only provides you with all possibly nutrients from that fruit, it also gives you the benefit of the fiber content of the fruit. lastly, it is much more filling than a glass of juice, so you eat less.

When you drink a glass of juice you are getting the natural sugars of several (possibley dozens) of servings of fruit all at once. When you eat a piece of fruit you cut back that and get the benefits of extra fiber.
