According to the Bible, we aren't supposed to lie, cheat at card games, gamble, smoke, eat candy, cross-breed cattle, blend fibers for clothing, find anyone but our spouse attractive, dye our hair, wear make up, tan, get tattoos or piercings, dance, and women aren't supposed to wear pants or speak unless spoken to..
So why is it we can defy all of the above "sins" but the minute homosexuality is mentioned, we have to follow what the Bible says about THAT?
Practice what you preach, hypocrites.
For the record, I am a straight woman who is married to a wonderful man. I am just sick of hearing how homosexuality is so wrong..

Without going through a long winded ramble about the finer points of the Bible -lets just cut to the chase. Many people don't like homosexuals, some people hate them and plenty of people think they are weird, depraved or sick; except maybe for their one openly gay friend who's not too bad.
You have to be happy and secure as a heterosexual before you can look at homosexuals and say big deal. Many parents dread walking with their children and seeing an affectionate same sex couple. Children ask the most troublesome and blunt questions (that is if they are allowed to speak). Parents hate to explain things that.
In explaining homosexuality you have to explore heterosexuality. Unless you are totally unabashed or all of sexual experiences are solely for procreation (and devoid of any pleasure) there is a lot of stuff you just don't want to talk about. Think of some of the most passionate moments with your husband, some of that stuff is just too private.
And a same sex couple out in the public space opens a Pandora's box of questions, doubts and misconceptions that many people don't want answered or corrected.
Heterosexuality is messy enough, adding that other dimension of homosexuality is too much for many to bare.
People go to the Bible for answers, some want simple answers to justify a closed mind.

For the record, I am straight woman too. Some of the above mentioned things that you refer to are not mentioned in the Bible, (just some denominations have twisted them to suit their own feelings, but I agree with you that we need to leave homosexuals alone. For the most part, I have found them to be very kind and trustworthy friends, a lot better than some of my "Christian" friends. I am also a Christian and we are taught NOT to judge. Wish we would all remember that.
Thanks for the question.

I don't feel that homosexuality is a choice, but something genetic and from within. How can it be a sin to be who you are? i don't think gays can choose who they are attracted to anymore than I can choose that I am straight. And even if it is an abomination, it's wrong for christians to shun them, because they are judging by doing so, and that is yet another sin.

Some of those "sins" you mentioned actually dealth with Israel and were not moral laws but were there to show how Israel was chosen and set apart from other nations.
Homosexuality, however, is something God calls an "abomination."
But it is true that many people do not practice what they preach and need to look at themselves first.

I think all sins are equal. Meaning no sin is greater than the next. People pick and choose what parts of the "Word" the choose to follow. Is it right. I think not. I think if you pick on Gays you need to examine yourself and fix the flaws/sins of your life before you judge anyone else.

According to Scriptuire we are ALL 'suppose' to sin since we are ALL BORN in sin from birth.....and are cut off from God.....due to original sin.
The ONLY solution to the sin problem is re-connecting to God through Jesus Christ.
He bears our sins and we get the free gift of eternal life.....THAT is what the Bible says.
Isnt that great news?

I don't know where you get this stuff, but it's sure not from Scripture or Christian Faith and Practice.
Sin is sin is sin, as you have said. There is only one sin that is beyond forgivness, and it's NOT sodomy. It's blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
Really.
