I know what you mean.. they dont maike can openers like they use to and 90% of the time it only cuts open half the can! I have three different ones I have to use sometimes.
When its like that take a butter knife and try to bend the attached part of the can up as much as you can so you can get the stuff out... Strange but true facts lol

Try using the triangle shaped can opener that pierces things like grapefruit juice cans, or V8 juice cans, and make a bunch of cuts into the can, one after another, all beside each other, and you won't be able to do that the whole way around the can, but it will give you enough of an opening that you could use a spoon to bend the top so you can then empty the contents of the can into your soup pot. But of course remember to get a new can opener for future use.

Use a bottle opener and pierce the lid until it makes a big ol' hole, then pour out the soup. It always worked for me when I needed it to. But I would suggest getting a new one.

First I'd get anger management classes. Then I would take the top of the can in the teeth of some needle nosed plyers and pry the lid up.

get a flat screw driver, a vise and a hammer.........put the can on to the vise and make sure is tight! then use the flat head and I would recomend to boil for 5 minutes on a pot and then clean it with alcohol before using it to open your can. Anyway, use the flat head screw driver as inside the can and hit the other end of it with the hammer downward to for the thin cap open.

If you are really hungry, take the can to the store you bought it at and have it replaced.

Good luck!!

If the soup has chunks of stuff in it, you will have to buy a new can opener. if it doesn't, you can get away with punching a hole in the top. But to save time and effort, don't smash your next can opener.

Go around the edge with a hammer and flat head screwdriver or the kind of can opener you use to open cans of juice (not sure how to describe it--the one with the curved triangle that pierces, not one of the one that pries) if you have one of those.

Slide a narrow knife into the opening you have and cut the veggies smaller so they will come out.
