Depending on where these men are from and what kind of background and culture they where brought up in it's only natural that in the "Old" days that the woman was the one that stayed home and prepared meals for the family. "Now-days" with the two income family and everybody is trying to survive there is a need for both family "bread-winners" to share in the feeding of the family. I think all men should do the cooking, that's the way I grew up, it was a matter of survival, the young ladies of today think that the "hunter-gathers" are there to do everything for them, they weren't taught the wright of passage of the "old world". Today I watch young women in the kitchen and they do not have a clue, if it's not in a box and you just add water or milk they are lost. This is my opinion

My husband grew up making breakfast, his all time favorite meal of the day, for he and his dad. He was part of a large family but everyone had different tastes and he enjoyed spending this time in the kitchen cooking for he and his pop. He still does cook for his pop, when he comes to stay with us for the summer, and this is something that brings them both right back to when they were both young and shared something special between the two of them.
That having been said, every boy should learn to cook for himself when he is about 12, moms should be on top of that one. And when he reaches 16 he should be taught how to cook for himself, healthy and cheap meals, in preparation for when he will be on his own at college or wherever he goes when he leaves his parent's home.
Cooking is a skill that a man can turn into a career, if he loves it enough. It can be a job that puts him through school or earns him extra money when his family budget gets tight and it is a skill that will make his girlfriends think about taking him on for life.
Men have great taste and express themselves boldly, I love it that my husband knows how to cook, and does.
I meant that every 12 year old boy should be introduced to the kitchen and cooking for himself, not meals but hot sandwiches and sweets and breakfast things, and then really taught how to cook everything for himself when he is about 16, like full on balanced meals that will carry him through his life.

Nowadays many women do not learn to cook either and often it is the man who has more competencies in the kitchen than those women.
Just as I can't testify for every woman's ability to cook it isn't fair to link all women's abilities to some I know.
Therefore it is just as unfair to say men should be taught to cook. They WILL learn when they have to, believe me.

I totally agree.I have three sons who are all grown(two married with families) and who can cook just as fine as I can.
No reason why men can't cook, bake etc. I taught them from the time they were teens that one day they may have to care for themselves and so they had better learn.
They have a great interest in cooking and will try anything. Not the best "bakers" in the world but they get by at the more simple things but they are fabulous cooks.I'm proud of all of them.
They do most of the cooking (except for the single one,who does it all) at home and are much better cooks than their wives. One daughter-in-law told me she had found the best "wife" ever. lol. And no..........none of them are stay at home dad's.
To carry it even further.........they can cook, clean and do laundry with the best of them.
Come on guys.......get with it.
