RIP is basically the try-out to get into Ranger Regiment, but that's already been covered. If you enlisted 11X Option 40, you will go through OSUT then Basic Airborne, then go across the street to RIP.
Basically, it's designed to see who quits. It will be tough and there is a ridiculously high wash out rate.
If you fail, you will receive the bonus for 11X Option 4 at the time when you enlisted and most likely be assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division since you are airborne qualified.

Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP) is a 4 week course held at Fort Benning, Georgia. RIP is required for E-4s and below to attend if they wish to be assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment.
RIP is designed to prepare soldiers, many of whom have just graduated Basic Training, Advanced Individual Training and Airborne School and are still considered "fresh" recruits, for assignment to the 75th Ranger Regiment. Soldiers from other units attempting to transfer to the 75th Ranger Regiment also attend the course, but are less common than new soldiers

It used to be only for 11 series MOS's but now anyone can try to be a ranger. Most of the people in there will be 11b's however. RIP is basicly 63 days of being, tired, cold, hungry, and sometimes wet.
If you can handle that for 63 days youll be fine. My brother is a ranger and I am hoping to be on once I finish jump school. It is not easy and the wash out rate is really high, I do not know the official number but its somewhere around 65% wash uut, probably higher.
They teach you to go in somewhere via an airdrop, survive behind enemy lines with no support and be able to handle setting up shot anywhere anytime without the regular ammenities like showers, bases etc.
Once your done you can either go back to your regular job but have the pride of being a ranger, or you can possibly join a ranger battalion. If you wash out you just go back to your job, I have never heard of them taking away your enlistment bonus though, unless the bonus was somehow in your contract as only counting you you finish RIP.
If its available to you why not take a shot? Be able to run, swim, and only eat 1 meal a day for some days, and only sleep for 4 hours a night. Youll be fine.

RIP is not Ranger School, therefore it is not 63 days (usually more because often there must be repeated phases due to injuries or too many gigs). RIP is for enlisted soldiers joining the 75th Regiment ROP is for officers joining the Reg. Once RIP is completed then the soldiers is ready to get a class date for Ranger school. Other Army divisions like 82nd and 25th run soldiers through a RIP course to prep them for the rigours the RI's will put them through

RIP is merely a program set up to get soldiers ready to start Ranger school. Washing out of RIP just means you go on to your duty station.
