(((Seal))) I think its based on a regular amount of answering or best answers in certain categories, but I'm not 100% certain!
I find it funny though, because when the badge came up, some people were complaining about "the orange thing"...Now they wonder wonder why its off!

My top contributor label was stripped as well. I think that when you begin answering more questions in a particular area than you have been answering in your top contributor area, then the label will go away. If you keep answering questions in the area which caused your label to go away, then you will likely get another top contributor label for that particular area.

I lost my Top Contributor label for another category, too. I'm not sure why, but this is my best guess:
I suspect there's some magic number of questions that you have to answer for a particular category to be considered Top Contributor. If you go below that percentage, you lose your cute little orange label.

I guess I will have to answer this to see if I still have my Top Contributor label.
Who knows what lurks in the minds of men. ONLY the SHADOW knows.
I must have done a NO-NO, my life is over.
It must be a sinister plot.

All about the number baby. Probably there are a hundred or so people who have that label at one time, so if folks get ahead of you, off goes the label

Mine disappeared temporarily yesterday, I thought I had lost it, and I just got it monday. I find this web site does strange things to my browser. I cleared my browser history, put the browser down, re-booted, and it was back when I returned...As for the criteria, I do wish they would publish more specific info on what they are looking for, and how they choose, in the help section...

I've heard more than one rumor that you need at least 10% best answers. It sounded like this was a requirement that changed recently.
The people in P&S were talking about it and that's what led to my research.
Couldn't find a definitive answer though.

I got it and lost it within a 3 day period. And my Best Answer % went up before I lost it. Didn't know why I got it-don't know how I lost it . Could care less. With no definite criteria known, what does it amount to anyway?

I've noticed a lot of badges have disappeared. I think you have to answer so many questions a day in order to keep them, but that doesn't seem right as some days I might only answer one or two questions.

Mine was as well. I was told these "badges" depend on your activity. I was home from work yesterday, and answered a multitude of questions. Yet, yesterday the "badge" was removed. So, I don't know if the activity "theory" is correct.
Oh well.
