because they are being decieved by their church leaders. Read what Jesus had to say about the pharisees (6 woes). They weren't his favorite people.
Churchs preach hate because they don't really have an active relationship with God. Their hearts are still inflamed with hatred and judgemt. That is why they 'beat the bible' so much, they are looking in a book, not their heart, to find God.
Most are mislead and ignorant, some are just plain evil beings, working to drive the TRUE light of Christ from this world.

First off yes the law of Moses Does have something to do with Now. It was all given for a reason Not just a history lesson. It also talks about this sin in the New Testament. As for myself I do NOT come down on gays any harder then I do other sins. There is still a person you are dealing with. Also a lot of times "gays" put all christians into one catagory. There are as many different "christians" as there are people. So to judge a whole by ONE persons act is being narrowed minded. Which is what we get accused of most of the time. You know so what if you want to live like that well that is YOUR concern but all this needing special recognition just because of your Sexual Preferences is really really OLD. I dont bash gays or anyone else. Everyone was created equal in the sight of God. I dont hate gays or anyone else who does wrong but I do not like the sin. Hate the sin love the sinner. Personally I am a fairly open minded person and I have family members and friends alike who think they are gay. I treat them like everyone else.

Both the New Testament and the Old Testament speak against homosexuality. If one believes that the Scriptures are the Word of God, then they are right to be against homosexuality.
But, not all Christians hate gays. I bet it's a small percentage. Saying, "God says homosexuality is an abomination" is not the same as saying "I hate gays." Maybe I don't accept that part of Scriptures. Maybe only 99% of the Bible is the Word of God. Who knows.
I think you're wildly over-generalizing about Christians. And "old outdated Jewish law" is not a charming statement, either.
If you intend to oppose unrighteous hate, fine. But don't be unrighteous while you try.

Dear J,
Let me say that the Bible never tells us that we are to hate other people. In fact, Jesus told us that the second greatest commandment is to love others.
The Bible does tell us that homosexuality is wrong and that God hates this particular sin. But He does not hate the sinner.
As for myself, I have a close friend who is gay. He understands how I feel about him being gay, yet, he also understands that I have a deep love for him.
Sadly, there are some out there who give a bad impression of what true Christianity is all about. We are called to lead by example with love toward others.
I believe that people will respond 100 times greater if they SEE your Christianity than to HEAR your hate.

>>>The Bible says it so it must be so. I never understood why Christians come down so hard on gays and yet refuse to practice other laws of Moses>>>
Because the "other laws" are superceded by new teachings in the New Testament -- but the Old Testament laws against homosexuality are not. They are backed up and reaffirmed in the New Testament.
We are very concerned when people engage in homosexual conduct, given its serious medical risks. It's a pity that you've chosen to classify this concern as "bashing."

First of all not all Christians are gaybashers. Secondly, most gay bashers are not Christians, they are just jerks. At the center of Christianity is "hate the sin, love the sinner," and quite frankly, you can indulge in any sin you want, that doesnt mean it is ok. Noone said that we are better or worse than anyone else, but you don't look at someone who is doing something to hurt themselves, and not say anything about it, unless you don't care about them right? You only assume that the Bible is fictional; this does not make you correct.
We all struggle with sin, but I guess it is easier for many to simply point the finger at God, rather than to let him help us.

Homosexuality is also discussed in the New Testament.
Romans 1
26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
But as far a Christians bashing gays goes....anyone who is a true Chrisitian is not going to bash someone else, they are gonna love them. Yes, homosexuality is a sin, but that does not mean we as Christians are to bash them and give them a bad taste when it comes to God. Seriously the old phrase "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" totally applies here. You start telling somene they are going to hell for what they do and they stop listening to you. Some people Christians and otherwise, need to start using some good old fashioned common sense!@!!

One quick point, I am a christian and I have friends who are gay. We don't all bash gays. We don't all molest children. We don't all go to church on Sunday morning until the bars open. We don't all.... but some do.
What you do is between you and God. I never saw my6 name in the Bible, where I was given the power to judge anybody else, gay or otherwise.

The Word of God in the book of Romans speaks upon personal conduct, self control and homosexuality. The Lord says it is an abomination unto Him. He says it in more than 1 book of the Bible. It is mentioned in the Old and New Testaments. I have to stand before God just like you so who am I to judge.
