It can be any colour, it's just that most brides wear that as their something blue, you can do whatever you like, it's only a tradition.

Something old,
something new,
Something borrowed and
Something Blue

some brides like to combine one or more of the above, which is the tradition, not necessarily blue garters but combining something blue with the throwing of the garter. I personally think that bridal garters should be snow white, made of the finest satin and have all the detail that the wedding dress has, such as pearls and lace and embroidery. It will be a keepsake for whoever catches it and a symbol of you, as a bride.

Hi, it can be any colour but most of the time it has blue on it so you dont have to find something blue to go with the saying, something old, something new, something borrowed, something Blue. So this is why they tend to add blue to it. Im getting married in July an d I got my garter from debenhams it was only £10 Jasper Conran make, and it has a little blue bow and a gem on. Its lovely.

But if can be any colour, if you want it to be.

I think your garter can be whatever color you like. A lot of times people go with a blue garter because they "need something blue" for the big day. I only went with blue because our wedding party color was blue.

My garter was pink - for something blue I had a blue ribbon sewn into the lining of my dress.

I have seen a website where you can get garters in football team colours if your husband to be is a fan!

Traditionally a bride should wear something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. Just convenient to have the garter blue because no one sees it under the white dress.

No, you can have them any colour or style you want.

The reason why they are blue is because of the
"something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" superstition

So a lot of people go for the blue garter

i heard that its just easier to have a blue garter b/c it is traditional for you as the bride to wear something barrowed, something new, and something blue. sooo your not going to wear a blue dress or blue jewlery most of the time soo its just common to wear a blue garter.

It's just an old wise tale that a bride should wear something blue for good luck. I didn't wear a blue garter. . . . (didn't match my dress) I just kept a white hankerchief with blue stitching stuffed in my bouquet. No one saw it, and it was there for me to dab my eyes.
