Do you worry with it?

i do worry about that because it causes the greatest environmental factor plaging us today: global warming. The only way to stop global warming and the greenhouse effect is to stop hurting the ozone layer. we can do this by putting less smoke and pollution into the air. Use less cars and put smokestacks over big factories.
we can fight this, but we need more people to do it.

Like most issues, global warming has been oversimplified. I myself am a liberal, but i disagree with how global warming has been presented to the public in this "a + b = c" format. The greenhouse effect (CO2 and some other gases reflecting radiant heat back toward the earth, that would otherwise dissipate into space) is one of MANY factors (fluctuating earth orbit, wobble etc) influencing climate and overall warming of the earth. I'm not saying an increased greenhouse effect ISNT a factor, it IS, but to what extent its affecting global temperatures in relation to other factors is hard to pinpoint. Further, to what extent our daily contribution to the atmosphere effects atmospheric temperature is still unknown.

With increases in temperature, frozen bogs containing once sequestered methane begin to thaw, ice melts increasing the absorptive surface of the earth to the sun's rays, the capacity of the oceans to absorb CO2 drops... etc. A misconception is that a sudden change in policy will reverse our current situation; the reality is that it appears the damage has already been done by setting these processes in motion.

Truth be told, we can't hold out much hope in stemming global warming, especially not by the feeble commitments of the international community. We may be able to limit greenhouse gas emissions, but what effect that will have is speculative at best.

Realistically, humanity is going to have to cope with a changing and likely much harsher world on the horizon, Prius or no Prius.

The guy above me, btw, knows nothing about atmospheric processes. Ground level ozone is a noxious air pollutant and doesnt contribute to the greenhouse effect... i wish i had the time to point out everything wrong with what he said, but i dont... like he said, the facts are everywhere, just dont look in the same place as him.

I'm COLD! Why would I want to do that??? The Greenhouse effect has kept this planet habitable for millenia. You would think from the nonsense spouted by Gore that humans never lit so much as a CAMPFIRE before the 20th century. HOW praytell, can a heavy gas like freon (which has already BEEN banned, incidentally) get up into the atmosphere high enough to do any damage??? And what is the difference between ozone produced by cars (smog) and their precious 'ozone layer'? It's all a crock of s*** anyway. The earth's temperature DIRECTLY reflects SOLAR WEATHER. Try looking up some ACTUAL FACTS before you start spouting the fear an loathing lies of Liberals with their own agenda.

The "Greenhouse Effect" is the fact that our atmosphere traps "greenhouse gases" - Oxygen, Nitrogen, CO2 - beneath it. At the same time, heat is also trapped, which helps to regulate the loss of heat when the sun is not shining directly on that side of the earth. That's why every night is not a freezing one. I don't think we want to minimize the Greenhouse effect - that's what keeps us alive on this planet in space, this distance from the sun - but we should consider just what gases we are trapping, how much CO2 we are releasing (the CO2 released from fossil fuels is not "new", but carbon released from the material that formed the fuel millions of years ago, in a standard combustion equation), and how much heat we are trapping.

Mother nature has taken care of the CO2 problem with photosynthesis.
Methane has been Delta with there is no lake of methane high in the upper atmosphere ,where did it go.If the 2 largest gas is not there neither is the green house gas.

and many more when you search "greenhouse effect" and "solution" or "minimize"
