In a word: "no." I say that because there are very few schools here in the U.S. that actually teach authentic ninjitsu. Ninjitsu is actually 9 different schools that are collectively known as Ninjitsu. It would take at least 10 years to master all nine schools (presuming you study full-time every day: 1 year to get down the basics, a year for each school).

Since there's so many bogus schools out there that teach stuff right out of books & videos, I say "no", Ninjitsu as it is in America is not a good martial art.

There was a study that national geographic channel produced called fight science. ( it was very awesome if your interested in martial arts you should check it out.)

They argued in the show that the man who did ninjitsu on the program was the ultimate fighter. He had the perfect combination of balance, speed, and the deadliest techniques. They concluded that the ninjitsu's hammer fist was deadlier then the Muay Thai knee strike. ( The muay thai people are crazy strong and kick trees all day to build up their strenght.. and no I'm not joking.)

For the most part ninjitsu is probably a wonderful art that will teach discipline, balance, and the use of your body and that you don't have to have tons of mussels to be an effective fighter. But other martial arts are good too, the thing is you shouldn't go into an art just because " Oh I'm going to learn how to kick people butts. " you should go into them wanting to maybe improve your own heath, learn control and discipline, and above all protect someone who can't protect themselves.

Look around and find which art may be best suited for you because if you just want to take it lightly don't go into a place where you must learn how to 'walk on the snow and leave no footprints' kinda thing..

Go into a dojo and ask the master/who ever the teacher is if that you can watch a class and see how things are done. You don't want to sign up for something you will come to find you hate.

Good luck!

First link is info on the fighters
second link is a preview of the show (the man walking on the raised platforms is the ninjitsu guy.)

It depends on your purpose of learning Martial Arts.
People learning Martial Arts nowadays always focus on beating other people up, winning a competition and which styles are better than the others. Not many coaches/sifu focus on the spiritual or inner training. Good Kung Fu guys should build the strength from inside out.

Ninja in the old days are trained for assassning.
The moves are designed to kill. The philosophy behind does not help you to build physically and mentally. Go to learn gun shooting if you want to learn to kill -- more effective and efficient.

i think Pat Smith fought a ninjitsu guy in an early UFC. He beat him to near death in seconds, the guy got schooled bigtime. Look for a pat smith highlight reel. The ninjitsu guy is the one that you have a hard time watching because it's so gruesome.

Here's the video:

Ninja arts are extremely old and have some obsolete aspects. Then again, many jujutsu schools fit that description, too. They represent an archaic form of guerilla/psychological warfare and they don't have competitions. Chew on that before joining.

Yes! Ninjitsu is one of the deadliest arts out there,we teach you to be the most effective in every area of self defence and fighting.Although you do have to careful with who you go to for training becuase there are only a few in the US who teach real Ninjitsu.I do hope you will consider taking and learning it,for you will not regret it at all.If you hear any bad feedback of it from people on here, its becuase they have not experienced it for themselves or,they went to a bad school.

Funny how a secret, hidden, mysterious art is being talked about and taught so openly by so many.

How would you even know if you know if you are really learning the art?

No. There's no evidence of it actually exist. Plus it's illegal to teach people to break in, sneak around, assassin, etc...
