I have recently been buying those DanActive drinks for my family since the active cultures are supposed to be so good for you.. On my last Doctor visit, I asked him if they were really beneficial. His actual response was "No, that's all crap". And that there ARE active cultures that would be healthy but they arent in any yogurts in the US. Also, he said that the cultures just die in our stomach acids anyway.

Has anyone seen any real research on this? Other Doctors' opinions?

I don't know if DanActive is any more beneficial than any other yogurt with active cultures; however, active cultures are beneficial in aiding with digestion of the dairy product. Dairy products are difficult to digest. Many people lack the enzyme to digest dairy products (lactose intolerance) and as a result they experience bloating, gas, and worse. The live or active cultures do the job of the missing enzymes. There are different enzymes for different foods. If you find a particular food hard to digest (causing bloating, gas, etc.) you can go to a health food store and find a enzyme that you can take that will aid in digestion. Now do the active cultures actually help women with regularity and other female issues? Ask 5 different doctors and you'll probably get 5 different answers. I know I have.

After doing a little searching, I didn't find any actual articles on the net, but I found a forum with an interesting conversation. I think you'll find it helpful. Be sure to keep reading as it develops more towards the middle of the page.

Yes they are...they help "eat" all the junk stuck in your stomach, intestins and colon for a healthier digestive track.
