My dad and I are from Ohio, and we're looking at several nearby tracks so we can attend a race. Any suggestions? Which tracks/seat locations have better views?

Bristol is my favorite...you can sit anywhere at Bristol and see just about everything. I also like Charolette and Martinsville.

Hey brother I am an Indiana boy born and raised Do Not I repeat do not waste your money on the Brickyard. If you are a Nascar fan any of the short tracks are good Bristol would have to be my favorite. I was online last night and tickets for the Sharpie 500 are starting at about $200 Talladega has some decent seats for around $80 OR $90and up. There isn't a bad race just bad experiences. If you want to check out some open wheel Indiana is the place to come but honestly that track wasn't built for Nascar like the southern tracks.I wish you and your dad the best on whatever race or races you attend this or any season.

I am from Ohio as well. I will assure you that the road trip down to Bristol, is well worth the drive. I've been to a couple races in Michigan. Setting between turns 1 and two are good seats I thought. You can see most all of the track from that end (suns in your face between 3-4). Also setting between 1and 2 you get a good view as cars come off of pit row. I have been to Chicagoland for a concert. I do think that Bristol is your best bet for a great race. Hard place to get tickets for but you can see from anywhere.

I went to my first Bristol race this weekend and it is definitely the best seating. I'd love to go to the night race. I have been to Indy too many times to count. I think the best seats are high in turns 3 or 4. The biggest party ever! It took us 4 hours to get out of Bristol but Indy only takes about 45 minutes to get out and up to 70 mph. Plan on doing lots of walking whatever track you go to. Also, scalpers are every where at Indy so you have lots of ticket options. There were actually quite a few at Bristol as well. Go to Chicago if you want to pay too much money and nap thru a boring race.

The obvious answer is Bristol, but tickets for Cup races are very hard to get. Remember the NASCAR commercial where a husband and wife are in divorce court. The judge give her the house, the cars, the boat etc. He gives the husband the tickets to Bristol. The husband is acting like he just won the lottery and the wife is screaming about a mis-trial. They really are that hard to get.

Anyway, I have been to several races at Indy and enjoyed them all. You might want to look into the race at Michigan, Chicagoland or Martinsville.

If you want to try a Busch race, there are several close to you. The race at Indianapolis Raceway Park is always exciting. I have seen that one live. There are also races at Kentucky Speedway, Nashville, Chicagoland, Michigan and Bristol.

Truck races near you are at Mansfield, OH, Martinsville, Bristol, Kentucky, Nashville, Michigan and IRP.

I would go to Michigan. Chicagoland is awful, and Indy is OK. While Michigan can be boring at times on TV, the track is easy to pass on. There is racing ALL OVER there. If you sit in row 20 or higher anywhere (turn 1, 3, 4 or center), you can see the ENTIRE track. I never miss a MIS race!!

If you are southern/eastern Ohio, I would go to Richmond!

Of course, any track is a great experience! But, I would choose Michigan or Richmond depending on where in OH you are!

You should go to a short track if it's your first race, making Bristol a logical choice for you from Ohio, but the night race is really hard to get tickets to. Michigan makes sense, too, and there's two races there coming up. Chicago has a race as does Kansas City. I'm just trying to give you some Midwest options. - Todd Shriber

Bristol is the best. Short track, not a bad seat in the house! Depending on your whereabouts in Ohio, it's about a 6 hour drive. (It is for me and I'm from Central Ohio). Charlot is not bad either, good seats, not a far drive. There is always the nearby Kentucky Speedway for the Bush race that goes there every year.
I've not heard good things about Indy and it's about 50/50 when I ask people about Michigan.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is kinda close to Ohio. You could go there to see the Brickyard 400 which is at the end of July. And the Indy 500 will be there in May if you like to watch IRL. I would say sitting in the frontstretch is a good view, because you can see the winner cross the start/finsih line.

Michigan is a great track to go to from Ohio. Easy to get in and out of. Get your seats as high as possible to see the entire track. Indy is great for the atmosphere, but depending on seating you can't see the entire track. Getting out of there takes hours. We plan to stay the night after the race. If you like the truck races, Mansfield is fun! Easy in easy out. Martinsville is about 9 hour drive, with great racing. Lowes motorspeedway is about 9-10 hour drive.

Bristol is the BEST. The night race is extra incredible. Like everyone said there is not a bad seat in the house. I went this Sunday and it was so hot hot hot. . .and last year it snowed at the track, go figure.

I have been to Martinsville and Rockingham. Martinsville is a good track too. I am going to Charlotte and Atlanta this year, can't wait.
