As a Jehovah's Witness, it would not be wrong for you to offer your Book of Mormon, but most would probably decline. Actually, there were quite a few who did have the Book of Mormon (my parents) as a reference.

The thing is though, we have taken time out of our busy schedule to come to your door to share our message. We are willing to listen to your view point, but if you what to spread your message, I personally, would prefer that you make the effort to find me at home and offer it to me there.

I'm always polite with Mormons when they come to my door, I know that it's not an easy work. I always tell them that I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses, but I'm more than happy to listen to what they have to say. Mostly it's seemed to be just to invite us to their services. I actually haven't had any come to my door since I lived in California and that was over 8 years ago.

I am LDS (a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints aka Mormons) and had a really good conversation w/a Jehovah's Witness once and accepted his literature. I then offered him a Book of Mormon and a DVD but he declined my offer. That was totally up to him and I respected that.

I don't think that there is anything at all wrong about offering someone a Book of Mormon no matter who they are. We live in a country that believes in religious freedom so why not? If, at the time, you feel it's the right thing to do then feel free to offer a copy. It's up to them if they want to accept it or not.

I am not at all in favor of pushing religion down anyone's throat. That's not what freedom, religious or otherwise, is about.

Absolutely not. It would be wrong of you not to.

Don't take this to mean that I'm a proponent of mormonism, for that would be far from the truth, but I believe in open, honest religious exchange. I do not believe that any one religion enjoys more of a claim to God's blessings than another, but that there are good principles in every religion that we ought to learn from.

If an LDS and a JW (two of the most fervent "we're the one true church" religions) can communicate openly and respectfully about religious differences and enhance their understanding of one another, then the world just became a better place.

Not wrong at all.

I'd much rather you put forth the effort of your time and energy like Jehovah's Witness do (while not getting paid to do so) to come knock at my door though - to be honest! It's quite lazy to sit around the house and wait for someone to come to your door to spread what you consider to be the truth. If it's really the truth, wouldn't you want others to hear about if all along?

Honestly, if you came to my door, I'd give you a chance to say what you had to say.

No, I did when I first became a member of the church. It has been the only time they have ever knocked on my door, but I listened patiently as they said what they had to say then told them I was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and asked if they wanted a Book of Mormon. They polietly declined, and that was that.

Of course not, they want you to listen to them, they should be willing to listen to what you have to say also or they have no business knocking doors! The worst they can do is not take it and you know the "best" that can happen...

He is on your doorstep. I would definitely say that you can offer him anything nonviolent (a kick in the pants should be reserved for someone who doesn't leave when you tell him to).

He can, of course, refuse to take your book. But then you can refuse to listen to his speech. So, it's all good.

Why would it be wrong? They won't accept it since they are not allowed to accept reading materials though. And they may or may not get offended. I'm sure it's better than slamming the door in their faces.

yes it is wrong. I take the trouble to come to your door, if you wanted me to listen to you, come and do the same-things we as Jehovah Witnesses do. one time mormons came to our door. we never did except anything from them but we did listen.

I know many mormons who do that... it's not wrong. But most LDS prefer not to argue or debate, they wait until they are asked (with the exception of missionaries).
