It doesn't hurt this country at all!!! This country that allows every race and religion in was started on the beliefs of God. So, how if we are an intelligent nation decide a couple of hundred years later that it is a bad idea to include God? God Bless America!!

It doesn't hurt our country.

It does annoy many of us when it's used as some sort of "proof" that America is a "Christian nation" by people who don't know when, how, or why that motto got onto our money.

The U.S. Treasury website tells the story.

If you read carefully, you'll notice this bit here:

"This would place us openly under the Divine protection we have personally claimed. "

So, apparently, having a phrase mentioning "God" on our money is a protective magic charm that will keep America and/or Americans from having bad things happen to it/them.

Kind of like carrying a rabbit's foot.

Also notice this:

"What I propose is that instead of the goddess of liberty we shall have next inside the 13 stars a ring inscribed with the words PERPETUAL UNION; within the ring the allseeing eye, crowned with a halo; beneath this eye the American flag, bearing in its field stars equal to the number of the States united; in the folds of the bars the words GOD, LIBERTY, LAW."

"the goddess of liberty".

Hmmmmmm.

But of course, the final refutation of this motto being proof that our country is a "Christian nation, founded on Christian principles", is the timing involved. We had national currency BEFORE any such motto was on it, and the Founding Fathers had nothing to do with it.

Personally, so long as it doesn't say, Non-Negotiable, I don't care what it says on my money.

I do find it a bit foolish that a cold-war rant, giving the commies the finger, is still written on our money.

More disturbing to me is that I am forced to choose between saying something I don't believe to voice support for my country or abstain from saying the pledge of allegiance because the same "giving the commies the finger" is in our pledge.

It doesn't hurt anything. On the new one dollar coins it's on the side instead of the face...You can check snoope under In God we trust to see pictures of it.

This is an insult to God, God the Father, who is in heaven, said; you can not serve God and mammon, for you will love one and hate the other. We as the Nation of Babylon worship mammon and deceive many into thinking it is God's will

It doesn't. Since over 90 percent of the US population believes in God, I doubt too many people have a problem with it.

In fact, I doubt most even people even notice that "In God We Trust" is on our money.

It doesn't hurt our country, but it must really hurt the atheists. They are trying to have it removed, but the christian based Govnerment, Supreme Court justices, Senate and Congress are laughing at them.

Supreme Court decision. "We have carefully read your request to have "In God we Trust" removed from the United States Currency. Your request has been DENIED!"

It does not, but it is quite a contradiction considering the founders where deists and in todays culture would be atheists.

Clearly they meant to create a secular nation.

Why muddy the waters?

It doesn't, it is another way for those who have no faith in God to try to empower themselves by achieving a senseless goal.
They should show that they are better than most by actually being models of those they are trying to beat down, but they can't so they try these little stupid things to make themselves feel grandeur.
I say let them do as they wish, for in the end, we are going to see the mercy of God at its fullest and they will be on their knees along side of us, praying and worshipping.
God bless you always, thanks for the opportunity to spread the Gospel of life.
