Hard to say. With what we know now about how and why we got involved in world war two, who knows. If Bush had the same hatred as Roosevelt did towards Hitler, we probably would have gone to war anyways but probably just directly instead of the big comlex plan Roosevelt used to get people into backing the war. I am sure some of you know about how Roosevelt provoked the attack on Pearl Harbor on purpose. Thats why Clinton signed a bill in 1998 that made it impossible for a country to prosecute a president or his staff after their term has expired. After the bill was signed the Freedom of Information act released the documents that showed Roosevelt hated Hitler so much but he knew the American people would not back a full deployment into Europes war. He had to be content with the liberty ships, airplanes, volunteer airmen, and weapons that we sold or leased to Britain. The FOIA documents show that he had asked his staff to figure a way into this war so he could help Britain and fight the man he truly hated. After the non aggression treaty signed by the axis powers (Germany, Italy, Japan)he finally had his way in. By going to war with Japan, he ensured the war against Germany. The treaty signed by the three axis powers states that if any one of the three were to be attacked, the other two would automatically be at war with the country that did the attacking. With the oil embargo placed on Japan and all raw materials halted, Japan had no choice but to attack the U.S. to gain back some the supplies it had now lost. Japan being an island nation knew that they had to stop the American Navy if they had any chance at all. With the attack on Pearl Harbor, Roosevelt had the opportunity to retaliate against Japan which by doing so Germany and Italy by default would have to declare war on the U.S. It obviously worked. If you need proof, go to the freedom of info act website and order the documents.

If the Bush administration had been in charge at the beginning of WWII we'd probably still be fighting it.

From what I read here I would say that the Yanks would have invaded the UK and finished the war in the first year. The problem would then have been what the yanks wanted with the British overseas possessions, probably annexed them as states with in the union eh!

Bush probably would have still won because he would have had the same excellent generals. He might not have opted to put Japanese Americans into internment camps though. He definitely would not have taken on out ally, the Soviet Union.

We'd still be fighting the war.
'Staying the course', and Bush would probably have supported Hitler against the Russians, and when Hitler looked like winning, he would have supported Russia.
'Gotta 'stay the course', ya know'! Gotta have sumtin' to scare the American people with!' Gotta keep the price of oil high, for the sake of my buddies.

good question
Outcome would have been different
I dont believe he would have worked with the russians and this could have changed the course of the war. As germany lost lots of its soldiers fighting the Russians,
Asia may have been taken over more as well but that would have depended on above situation if it went positive or negative, probably would have gone on for a lot longer as well

Depends...Does the military have the same Generals and soldiers it did in WW2? If so, it'd be the same. The aftermath might be different. I think we might have taken in to WW3 with Russia, especially with the oil in Syberia.
Christina...we waited for 9/11 before we took decisive action.

Bush would have used the 1938 World Series result as an excuse to invade Poland; thereby, Germany would have been held in check until the Soviet Union decided to cut off our supply lines. Bush would then accuse the Soviet Union of meddling in Poland's affairs. British PM Oswald Mosely would have signed a non-agression pact with the Bush-Hitler axis. Bush would then follow Napolean's example and invade Russia without battle to the gates of Moscow itself. Gay marriage would be outlawed in the US, but male prostitutes would be allowed to pose as White House reporters. Anyone who thought invading Poland was a moral outrage would be denounced as "unpatriotic". The writ of habeas corpus would be burned, and US citizens would be held indefinitely without trial and without any charges.

In view of how horrible Bush works with others, I firmly believe that the war may not have have played out as history dictates.
I also believe Churchill would hate Bush's guts.
Totally disappointed with Prescott Bush but not entirely surprised.
In fact, it explains a lot.
