However, if you cannot afford to pay a good breeder for a dog, you CANNOT afford a dog. Much less a toy breed that's prone to many illnesses and health problems. My toy dog cost us over $1000 the first year we got her because of illnesses, vaccinations, and emergencies. Several of these bills were $200-$300 lump sums and another was a $400 lump sum. If you don't have $1000 in cash or credit to pay a vet, then you can't afford a pet. Sorry.

Chihuahuas require alot of ear maintenance. They also need their eyes maintained free from debris, although this is the easy part. Though the ear maintenance is a very serious thing. If you just want a cute little puppy that fits in a purse. That aint gonna happen. Those dogs are highly prized and go for alot of money. Its better to find a chihuahua without papers that is a runt of a litter. Usually people let go of them for alot less. Maybe even under $100. If you want a female puppy raise and breed then I have no sympathy for you. You can't get something for nothing.

Petfinder.com I highly doubt that you will be able to find one for free ,but you can check that site and find one at a reasonable price.. They are rescued and shelter dogs. Put in the breed and your zip code and hit search.
