Merkel cell carcinoma kind of looks like a boil but is a rare type of aggressive skin cancer.

Staph infection is a common problem during late stage cancer. If your Dad had any of several types of cancer which had silently grown to stage four disease then this staph boil might have been his first obvious symptom other than his possibly feeling tired or thinking he had the flu. Sorry about your father's passing.

No staph is staph, it's a blood infection, that could have been caused by a boil...but cancer is cancer, they might just not have detected it in time...cancer can be in tumor form, if this was the case it could have been thought it was a boil....but this all sounds a bit odd...I'm very sorry for your loss but i would try to find out some better answers to this.

Uh, cancer does not start as a staph infection. It comes from mutated cells. It didn't start as a boil/infection. I'm sorry about your father. Mine also died of cancer. It's why I now do what I do.

No, that isn't possible.

It could be possible that enough investigating wasn't done and he was, originally, misdiagnosed.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss.
