We have a cat that disappeared 6 - 8 months ago, now she's back. It is definitely our cat, the scar from being fixed and pictures match up. Can someone give me feedback on this? Thank you in advance.

I don't know if it's memory or not, but they definitely connect and associate with who their owner/caretaker is. When you treat them well, they remember that. And if you mistreat them then they recognize that as well and shy away. There's been numerous stories of pets that were lost or left behind that have been able to track their way back home. I'm glad for you that your cat was one of them. We had a cat once disappear never to be seen again, and that sucks.

We'll never know, will we?
I had the same thing happen with a cat who showed up about a year later with the same wheeze - she had asthma and we called her Puffer! She knew where all the stuff was in the house but if she was happy or sad to see us we'll never ever know!

They definitely remember who belongs to them. :P

We had to give our cats away because we were afraid that our evil neighbors would try the same trick we believe (but can't prove) they did with two of our dogs--poison them. One of our cats was very happy in her new home and is still there.

Cat walked across two counties toward home and was picked up fishing goldfish out of someone's pond. Her microchip was still registered to us, and my dad went and picked her up from the Humane Society. Not only was she glad to see him (who she never really liked), she was *estatic* to see me. Now she is a happy indoor cat in my apartment.

Yes, I've had a cat run away and come back and I also moved once after a cat ran away 2 weeks beforehand and she found us....8 miles away. I think they have GPS.....global people satellite. :)

These things happen. Maybe they remember a place where they got food or also people who were firendly to them...it's hard to know if you're not a cat:-)

Of course lady, I came to answer this answer from Polls and surveys for you and you asked a simple question. Any how animals are faithful and humans are not faithful, many forget our help done to them but animals remember us for life.

Sure they remember. Unless they were too young and too much time has passed, exactly like wih children. But they do remember people and places.
