First of I am catholic, OK now.... In the Masses that Jesus gave they were nothing like the Catholic church today. The catholic church is very repetitive. Basically the only important part is the first reading, second reading, and the Gospel reading.

If you have never been to a Catholic Mass service please dont answer.

YES!
I attended the RCC through my youth and I now attend a "Christian" church that follows the bible and not the traditions of men. The Christian church started in a restoration movement. Christians wanted to get back to how worship was in the beginning. Even down to what the "church" is called.
No Mary worship-prayer is worship
No fancy robes
No repeating of saying over and over with no meaning
No idols, none
Speak where the bible speaks and be silent where it's silent.
I read about the early church and the early church fathers. It is NOTHING like the RCC and it's mass.

While the Liturg of the Word is important, the purpose of it is to put us in the proper frame of mind for the REAL most important part of the mass - The Liturgy of the Eucharist.

If you do not understand the importance of the Liturgy of the Eucharist, I have no choice but to assume you are virtually ignorant of the meaning of the mass. I know that sounds but anyone who had an inkling of understanding of Catholic mass would not claim what you're claiming.

Perhaps you think mass is boring because you go there believing you are supposed to "get something out of it." The mass is an audience participation deal and you get out of it what you put into it.

You seem fond of the Liturgy of the Word. That's good. Perhaps you might consider becoming a Lectore? Why sit and listen/read the Scriptures when you could be the one proclaiming them to the gathering!

Better still, consider becoming an extraordinary minister; those who distribute Communion at mass. This might give you a better understanding of the Eucharist. Then you will it's importance.

If you find mass "boring", do something about it. Make it interesting by contributing something more than to it.

Do some independent research on the mass. I recommend "We Worship: A Guide to the Catholic Mass", by Father Oscar Lukefahr.

The mass is how we keep the Sabbath Holy. Why not increase your understanding of it?

I dont think Our Lord is too happy about the changes to our liturgy. Mass attendance has fallen . People are bored.
You must try to go for a traditional Latin mass and you will see the beauty of the Mass as it was before the Vatican ll protestantized changes to the liturgy. There are many
Catholic churches that offer the Latin Mass.
Also if you are interested go to www.fatima.org. Fr. Nicholas Gruner has been trying very hard to bring back our lost liturgy.

Also do watch the following documentary on the same web-site which is Heaven's peace plan and something you may not know about. Interesting.

I have been to a Catholic Mass once and did not quite know what to make of it at the time - I was not a believer and had not hardly ever been to any sort of service, so I didn't find it to be boring at the time; it was all new to me. Now, however, it would bore me to tears, make me want to cry, shout, interrupt the service, pray really hard, or do something other than sit their and be spoon fed something, especially if it was in Latin!

Conspicuously absent from the pages of the New Testament is the whole notion of Christians attending some sort of service. Christians were to expected to serve the poor, serve one another, and serve the Lord. They were not told to expect to sit there passively, week after week, month after month, year after year, decade after decade swallowing down sermons and "worshipping" by singing songs - it's just not what the early church did AT ALL!

The preaching you find in the New Testament was public attempts to convert the Jews, not lectures based on Greek style rhetoric and logic. The appeals were much shorter, interesting, story-like, and often not explained. Explanations were given to those who showed interest by following the disciples and Christ around. What we are doing today is attempting to convert the semi-converted, or to keep the converted converted or...

What should be occurring is teaching, and that is an interactive sort of thing. The closest the church usually gets to this is Bible study, but even this falls short since most of Jesus' teaching was impromptu and based on the needs that arose as the disciples received active training. They learned about Christianity by DOING things with Jesus.

Frankly, one of the worst things to ever happen to the church was Emperor Constantine's edict of toleration and his ordering Christians out the house church environment and into the "temples."

Let me correct you about the most important part, it is the Eucharist, until you understand that in the Eucharist is the real presence of Christ himself, then you will continue to be bored.
Secondly, in the time of Jesus, the Old Testament scripture was used during their service, being Jewish is not easy, anyone can attest to this. Holy Scripture is not only recited, it is memorized, it is also debated heavily in the sinagogue and brought to light to todays time. It is also known that a Jewish service in the days of Christ lasted hours on end.
You complain of just an hour of the week, once a week.
Pay attention to the scripture, let it talk to you, and live your life at Mass, as if you were in the presence of God himself, because you are, and you will gain so much more out of it.
God bless you always, thanks for the opportunity to spread the Gospel of faith.

PS. I am a Catholic Youth Minister

I think he would find it boring. and he would definitely not like some of what goes on in mass...

I know that Jesus went to the temple when he was a child... not sure that it was very often tho as they had to travel quite far... so 'church services' in general would have been something he would not have done... I think he would rather praise God and pray while alone than to 'attend' a service....

I also think he would wonder why on earth 'he' was still on that cross in the church when it is evident that he is not there!

1. Jesus never "gave masses"
2. There is a big difference in what the bible teaches and what the Catholic church teaches.
3. Jesus knows what is going on in all of the churches of the world.
4. Catholicism is a religion, Christianity is a relationship.

I hope this answers your questions, if you want more information on any of the above feel free to email me.

IHOP may be very cool! Haha, as a Catholic myself I too cross to IHOP, however mine is an additional department underneath Asia. I in my opinion think that the spirit motion may be very robust and robust within the protestation church buildings. So a lot in order that it offers you probably the most intriguing, such a lot robust, such a lot accelerating spice up on your spirit and feelings while you attend their conferences. Catholic church, is most often universally and globally Boring. I agree! But nonetheless, the Catholic church has many values and traditions which might be the pillars of the church. The sacraments and rites are very robust and symbolic, which issues in our lives. Check out the satanist, they're the anti-christ and the way do they run their church buildings? who do they imitate? It's the rituals and the likes of the Catholic church. So for me, I might in no way go away the Catholic church considering the fact that I understand the Catholic church has many sins, traditions and dull historical yaps (sorry forgive me, however I do suppose that's the present fact) however it's the subsequent iteration that have got to take it ahead! God is elevating up a iteration everywhere the sector to stand up into a brand new church, In His prayer, Jesus mentioned "Father, allow them to be one", and that is what we have got to do. Bridge the individuals again! The protestations transfer via the prophetic anointing and the catholic church actions via the apostolic. I suppose we want each. We cant hold keeping so tight to the historical approaches and traditions however be taught to waft and drink of the brand new wine too. What continues this from taking place? PRIDE. undeniable and practical... So for you, I my private propose is to have that freedom to be who you're and worship in which you desire to worship. You will also be baptized wherever, so long as it's in "spirit and fact". Just cross forward to IHOP, they're so well in main individuals to worship and the throne room of god! however nonetheless, at some point you have got to come to the factor in which loud song and robust leaders might fade away, however will you uncover that real worship nonetheless on your center? Think approximately it ya, in the meantime...simply cross forward and discover!! God bless :)

The Catholic Mass is the closest thing to heaven on earth that you will ever experience.

I suggest you read the following Catholic Update about the Mass: http://www.americancatholic.org/Newsletters/CU/ac0889.asp
