Well the interesting unknown property about truth, is that it can lie.

"The newest truth about Truth lies in the truth that Truth can lie. C.S. "

I have noticed that the greatest tool of the deception that some media types use, is telling truths but not the whole truth.

So the question:

Is freedom of the press, freedom of the truth ?

Of course not. It's the freedom to write anything you like, with very few limitations enforced consistently. Everybody has an "opinion" and the freedom to write it, or twist it, to their own end. Hmm..., it actually is freedom of the truth, as in being entirely 'free from the truth'. (ie.-no truth at all.) :)

It depends on whose truth you are talking about.

Religious "truth" thrust upon the masses via the press is not a freedom. It is a dictatorship.

Freedom of the press is to allow the press to report without influence by the government or religion.

Nope, freedom of the press means that you can print anything you want, however if what you print is a lie and harms others they have legal recourse against you.
